Tim Russert still wants to do what is best. He may be the victim of experts in propaganda, still I would keep him. He has to be worried and confused.

DP, I would like to think well of Tim Russert, too. But I’m past the point of relying on his folksy say-so. This Sunday, he had Frank Rich on the show to discuss the NYT’s involvement in Traitorgate, and he, Russert, said NOTHING about his own involvement. As Arianna Huffington points out on her blog, Matt Cooper and Walter Pincus have come clean. What is stopping Tim? There are really only two choices: 1) he’s protecting the Cheney cabal because he likes them 2) he’s protecting his own job security. In the face of 2,000 dead Americans and 10s of thousands of dead Iraqis (because the Plame leak is about covering up the lies that got us into war), I just don’t know how Tim can keep silent. He knew before the war started that the WH had a campaign against Wilson & Plame. He knew that they were breaking federal law in order to wage their war on the Wilsons. And he said nothing. And continues to do so.
