Huckabee just said:
“But remember that your most single — critical job is that of preserving and protecting the American people.”
He’s referencing the Presidential Oath of Office here. But the oath is about “preserving and protecting” the Constitution — not the people.
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.
I don’t see anything in there about dismantling our civil liberties in order to protect us from the evildoers.
