Kos Straw Poll: Edwards Way Up

No, no, no. Edwards picks up three points, Senator Obama drops three points. New Daily Kos straw poll:

Edwards 41
Obama 27
Dodd 11
H. Clinton 6
Kucinich 5
No F’ing Clue 2
Biden 2
Other 1
Richardson 1
Gravel 0

Again, the support for Edwards baffles me. We can’t settle for another Democratic nominee who voted with the president on Iraq. We spent most of the 2004 cycle defending this with Senator Kerry (and John Edwards). Who wants to slash, pummel and plow through that tangled mess again?

How about an Edwards/Obama ticket? Agree with other poster, he did state he was wrong for voting for the Iraq war. That’s more than a lot of them will do. I admire the man, and what an amazing first lady Elizabeth would make!

    Hey Bob,

I love your site and your ideas and agree with you 99.9% of the time. But I’m going to have to respectfully disagree with you on this one. Obama is a great choice, but I don’t think he’s the only choice.

I happen to think people change and believe Edwards when he says he realizes that voting yes on Iraq was a huge mistake. Edwards hasn’t been a Washington insider for the past four years and in that time has concentrated on poverty, education and affordable health care for everyone.

I like the fact that he wasn’t afraid to speak his mind during the debates and the only one of the top three that I felt never tried to sidestep questions.

Obama is a great choice. But I believe there are other choices. I feel Dennis Kucinich, Chris Dodd and John Edwards are others great choices.

    Thanks.

    1. kucinichafter that, we’ll see. i’m waiting to see who the green party comes up with. obama, dunno. and honestly, its not so simple as “he voted for iraq.” its worth looking at but given his honest accounting since (we can hope), it is now integrated into his understanding that it was a mistake. people with experience learn. often through mistakes. i’m sure, even given obama’s lesser amount of experience, he has learned too from mistakes.

Hi, I’m Pollyanna, and I’m not worried, yet; I thought it was clear this was going to happen, ’cause I’m fuckin’ Kreskin. Just part of the cycle with so many strong candidates.I like him a lot, with his gleaming smile, and his now mole-less face, but can see him easily another careless cheater. You better hope he hasn’t been caught cheating, ever, but especially now, on his sick wife. And if you think that’s crass, just wait, it’ll be the 2004 swiftboat election all over again, minus the war hero, but with a very Clinton-like figure center stage. And the media is much worse, not better, than it was then. I think Edwards as anything but the VP may be a very beatable campaign, in part simply for how much he’s going to remind dumb folks of (President) Clinton.I’m being a smart ass and am half kidding about the cheater thing, but the right-wingers and moderates already hate him, loudly. They’ll have trouble publicly hating Obama without their robes & hoods showing.I admit, I have been wrong the last two presidential “elections”. I never thought there was a chance in hell that there were enough idiots to elect Bush in the first place, let alone twice. Although, many think he’s hasn’t won an election outside the state of Texas.

Can’t say that’s a shock by any means. Joe should really quit while he perceives he’s ahead. “SHOCKING DEARTH!”

I’m not too keen on an Edwards nomination (I’m an Obama Guy), but I’d much rather see Edwards in the top slot than Hillary.

    I agree with Sam H.
