Bush: The Movie

Nooooooo!

Oliver Stone has set his sights on his next directing project, “Bush,” a film focusing on the life and presidency of George W. Bush, and attached Josh Brolin to play the title role.

Great. Unless it’s the most awful Stone movie ever, or unless it exposes the fact that the president needs a cork on his fork, it will make people of the future think, “Hey! He must be awesome. They made a movie about him.” Put it another way, if Stone made a movie about President Harding, we wouldn’t regard him as the one who everyone confuses with either Hoover or Coolidge.

You know what might make it the worst Stone movie ever? If Bush has the Alexander mullet.

Well, he is the worst president this country has ever seen. They made that movie about Reagan, although I have no idea if it was any good (interestingly, James Brolin played Reagan).Considering Stone’s political inclinations and that Brolin seems to think like his dad, this would be a scathing review and performance. I would watch it knowing it’s in the hands of these men. What’s the second worst Stone movie?

What a waste of time. If Oliver Stone wants to really have some fun, he should make a nice, three hour movie about all of Dick Cheney’s antics. That chickenshit needs to be exposed in such a way that everyone can see all his machinations from the start to finish.

You’re both right. I think Stone ought to do the Cheney movie, Nano. Rediscover his NATURAL BORN KILLERS filmmaking style.

Yes, yes! Make it a new trilogy, include Rove. Although, fuck that, nine hours (+) of film dedicated to those pieces of shit would utterly depress many for generations to come.Yes, need more like NBK, he’s made a few pretty shitty movies over the last decade.

But if it was a true Oliver Stone movie, no one would go see it anyway. His movies suck bigtime…(JMHO) … and I cannot imagine anyone actually paying to watch someone pretend to be a Shrub.

I don’t pay to go see any movies anymore, so it’s all the same to me. I’m indifferent to the movie being made, but I do hope that Oliver Stone makes something decent again in my lifetime. You didn’t like Platoon, Wall Street, or Natural Born Killers? He is not my favorite director, but those three movies are on a long list of my favorite films.

I think those were his “sanity” period films…

If “Nixon” (1995, Anthony Hopkins) is any guide, it won’t be a flattering portrayal. The more venal and ignorant Dumbya comes across, the better I’ll like it. And remember, for lots of people, the Oliver Stone bio-pic will become the official version of history. Heh heh. Heh.
