They Won’t Stop

President Bush yesterday:

“Iran’s actions threaten the security of nations everywhere,” Bush said. “So the United States is strengthening our long-standing security commitments with our friends in the Gulf, and rallying friends around the world to confront this danger before it is too late.”

President Bush on November 23, 2002:

“The world is also uniting to answer the unique and urgent threat posed by Iraq whose dictator has already used weapons of mass destruction to kill thousands.”

And just like Iraq, no amount of reality or contrary information will stop them.

The long-standing addiction to the drug called self-righteousness that this country of ours came under during WWII has now become the Bush Doctrine and cannot look on anyone who has a quarrel as anyone but a tyrant who must be put down.Tragic, because unless we bring ourselves down off of this drug of self-righteousness our beloved Republic can’t stand up to the tests of time.

Addicted to self-righteousness during WWII? Perhaps you’ve forgotten that the USA was all that was left, in a practical sense, to pull the world’s chestnuts out of the fire back then. I really think that we had good reason to be somewhat full of ourselves at the time. That’s not to say that the present administration -?led? by the arguably worst president ever – has any right to feel anything good about itself. We always need to keep in mind that present conditions and actions in no way negate the good that the US has done in the past. Our record is spotty in places, but we’re still light years ahead of the vast majority of the world.Steve

“rallying friends around the world to confront this danger”I’m willing to bet this will be another coalition made up of a dozen or so guys from countries the size of Delaware. We might not invade Iran, but I think this administration will almost certainly send in a few bombers. What sickens me most is knowing that after everything they have done- all the crimes, all the lies, all the lives lost- these two shitbirds are going to leave office (maybe) and go live happily ever after. Neither of them will see any consequence for their actions.

Well, one can always hope for karma to kick in.
