Tom Ridge: Waterboarding Is Torture

The AP: “There’s just no doubt in my mind — under any set of rules — waterboarding is torture.” He added, “I believe, unlike others in the administration, that waterboarding was, is — and will always be — torture. That’s a simple statement.”

It never ceases to depress me that we live in an era in which everyone is weighing in on whether this or that is, in fact, torture committed by the United States. How far have we fallen? I mean seriously. I thought this was settled with the Spanish Inquisition and the Gestapo.

OF COURSE WATERBOARDING IS TORTURE!

Torture – where to begin. Do you all realize there is a physician who has a show on Discovery Channel that PROFILES “Most Evil”. On this show, he discusses serial killers and sociopaths (among other categories) of deviant human beings. Of course, when torture is used, it elevates the category of the perpetrator. However when Dick Cheney and George Bush approve the use of torture, and we are having a national debate over what is/isn’t torture, that seems to be ignored by the populace. We seem to be overlooking the fact that torture is a deviant and unacceptable form of human behavior. And when it is used in a crime, it is ranked as particularly heinous. We live in a very strange age, in my opinion. We have psychiatrists dealing with all types of horrible murdering psychopaths, and our government is killing people by torturing them and declaring it “ok”.
