Anecdotal evidence on turnout numbers:I go into my polling place, and they have to ask “Republican or democrat” to give you the correct primary ballot.I live in a small town and my polling place is one of the smaller ones in the town, so there’s more of a “just folks” feel to it; it is in a small senior center’s break room, and the volunteers usually outnumber, at any point in time of the day, the voters present. Which is to say, yes, they’ll get a bunch of voters coming in over time, but usually, there’s no line, really.Well, today, when they asked “Republican or democrat” and I responded quickly “Democrat,” trying-but-not-quite-succeeding to keep a poker face at the horror of even being momentarily tagged as a republican– the ladies started to laugh.I said, “Oh, wow, am I that obvious?”They were like, “No, no– we’re laughing because you can’t BELIEVE how many democrats versus republicans are turning out. It’s, like, 6 or 7 to 1.”You gotta understand, my town has ALWAYS been heavily republican.I really think if Obama wins the nomination, this *could be* a perfect storm. The republicans are not enthused by any of their candidates. We are, apparently.YES, WE CAN! SI, SE PUEDE!

That’s encouraging, Josh. I also live in a small town in Northeast Oklahoma and when I went in this morning, I was disappointed that there were 6 or 8 Republicans in line and I was the only Democrat at that particular time. As conspicuous as I was, I was still proud to be there….and I marked Obama too!
