Morning Awesome

Justin Lee-Collins’ exuberance will make you want to watch all seven parts. I did.

And happy birthday to Dirk Benedict. TV’s Face Man and TV’s original Captain Starbuck. When you get to his interview in part 3, he says some obnoxious things, but happy birthday anyway.

I’m a little ashamed I just used my Saturday morning to watch that, nevertheless that was very entertaining.Of all the shit Benedict says, he thinks that “women like to watch men” is the sexist portion of his interview? Lots of little girls loved that show, too, Dirk (Dirk Benedict? Your agent make that up?). I had an awesome Mr. T doll that made out with Barbie and her slutty friends all the time. His part (7) is the best part of the whole show.

Oh, how fondly I remember the Big Salad Shooter…

I think that considering Dirk’s comments “obnoxious” is an example of just what he was talking about. They were extremely tame, compared to most of the rhetoric flying around. Let’s not fall into the PC trap over everything.

Oh, God, I’m old…I can’t figure out which part is obnoxious :( Benedict is right; speaking as a woman, women like to watch men (especially men doing manly things) and TV has become feminized. How many shows are on where the men are seen as the weak ones in a relationship? Even commercials – women are portrayed as the wise ones and men are “yes, dear”ing them to death. It’s tiresome and fairly demeaning to men. What we need, IMO, is more shows like those written by Aaron Sorkin with both sexes being shown as strong & weak – “Sports Night” is a great example.

“It’s tiresome and fairly demeaning to men.”Agreed. It’s also demeaning to women. The pussification of men fucks women just as much as it does men, so to speak.
