That way madness lies

Olbermann got it 100% right and then some tonight:

Olbermann chose to frame his comment in terms of bad choices on the part of Senator Clinton, stopping short of calling her inherently racist, instead casting the matter in terms of her receiving bad advice from the “tone deaf” and “arrogant” members of her campaign (“they are killing your chances of becoming president…[and] slowly killing the chances for any democrat to become president”). He characterized Ferraro’s remarks as “a blind accusation of sexism and dismissing Senator Obama’s campaign as some equal opportunity stunt,” and decried her comments both in this instance and historically, pointing to the “cheap, ignorant vile racism that underlines them.”

Did anyone besides me get the impression that Olbermann was speaking “more in sorrow than in anger” this time? I really felt that he was mourning the demise of Hillary’s campaign, rather than castigating her.It is sad to see such an intelligent, capable woman brought down by the ignorant actions of her “advisers”.

Sorrow, exasperation, you bet. It’s a little sick, I know, but now I am wishing something bad would come out about Bill, so the whole thing will just be over. I used to only change channels when Bush came on, but lately I’ve been doing with her too. That ain’t good for the Democratic party.

I did, Baja. After some of the comments posted on HuffPo, I was expecting him to give Clinton a sound thrashing. Instead, he gave her some sound advice. There’s little hope that she’ll take it, though, and we just may be stuck for another 4 years with a lunatic in the WH. A year ago, I would have thought such a scenario to be impossible.
