What Also Matters

Gas prices just jumped to $3.59/gallon in my area. I wish someone would have kept track of how many times the words “gas prices” and “close the deal” were used this morning on the very serious cable news networks. I don’t think “gas prices” would’ve stood a chance in that tally. And as I watched this morning, not a single mention of the soldiers who were killed in Iraq today.

Lucky! Gas just hit $3.99/gallon here in Alaska. You know, where we pull the stuff out of the ground.

Monday we went from $3.58 to 3.64. Today, same station, it’s at 3.69. 11 cents in 2 days and 31 cents in less than a week. Yeah – what we need is more tax breaks for the oil companies, right, Sen McCain? And another soldier killed in Iraq, bringing the total for April thus far to 34. Wasn’t the US supposed to be greeted as liberators and the oil in Iraq used to pay for the rebuilding of that country?
