Rank Who Needs To Endorse

As we wait for the votes to be counted in Muncie, take a moment of your time to rank the following people in terms of who needs most to endorse Barack Obama tomorrow. In the morning. 1 is most needs to endorse.

Al Gore
Either Edwards
Chuck Schumer
Chelsea Clinton
Barbara Boxer
Nancy Pelosi
Howard Dean
Hillary Clinton
Rahm Emmanuel
Harry Reid
Jimmy Carter
Wesley Clark

Then when you’re done with that list, feel free to make a second list of WHEN you think each person will endorse Obama (if ever).

Have fun endorsing!

    1. Hillary Clinton
    2. Al Gore
    3. Jimmy Carter
    4. Either Edwards
    5. Howard Dean
    6. Nancy Pelosi
    7. Harry Reid
    8. Wesley Clark
    9. Chelsea Clinton
    10. Barbara Boxer
    11. Chuck Schumer
    12. Rahm Emmanuel

Hillary Clinton: when it’s a political inevitability. And then maybe still not.
Al Gore: when it’s politically comfortable to do so. Probably well before the convention.
    Jimmy Carter: see Gore.
Either Edwards: see Gore, but with the caveat that they (John at least) may pull a maverick move, endorsing much sooner or much later than many others.
Howard Dean: as DNC chair, he will never formally endorse before everyone else has.
Nancy Pelosi: see Dean, but it’s pretty clear where she stands.
    Harry Reid: see Pelosi.
    Wesley Clark: who knows.
    Chelsea Clinton: will never endorse.
Barbara Boxer: too invested in the Clintons to make an advance move. Will endorse when everyone else does.
Chuck Schumer: after Gore but before Boxer.
    Rahm Emmanuel: see Schumer.

Wesley Clark already endorsed Clinton last September.http://securingamerica.com/ccn/node/12725

Sure, well, Hillary endorsed herself, too. As did Chuck n’ Chelsea. I’m expecting some reversals.

LOL Clark should have reversed his endorsement as soon as Clinton ran her mouth about Iran. Once Clark heard her echoing Bushisms, that should have been the get out of dodge call for the former head of NATO.

  • JumpyPants

That is about 100% right on!

Carter has telegraphed his support to his supporters without actually endorsing Obama to avoid hurting the candidate–at least that was my assumption.Clinton, is the key, of course, but as long as she doesn’t, you won’t see official endorsements from the grandees until the last voter has had their say. I think we will see heavier and heavier hints about obeying the verdict of the pledged delegates and the need to rally around the candidate–a shaping of the narrative around the presumptive nominee. That I think is what will happen. The main threat seems to be attempts to shape expectations around West Virginia (if Obama can’t win WV, he can’t close the deal, etc.).
