Obama will vow to crush telecom immunity in the Senate? Yes or No…Discuss

When is the vote for that bill anyway?Also, Bob…thanks for the MST3K clips, it reminded me of how freaking awesome that show was, and I was able to find full episodes on YouTube. I haven’t laughed that hard in ages.

all right! The reason I wanted Bob to start with open threads is so that I could recommend a show to everyone who hasn’t seen it. Yesterday, my fiance and I had the extreme pleasure of seeing a performance of the touring company of “Love, Janis”. It’s a tribute to Janis Joplin, and is it fantastic!The vocals are superb, the concept of staging is outstanding and very imaginative. Anyone who remembers Janis, or has learned of her story and heard her music will love this show. by the end, I had tears in my eyes, and the woman next to us was openly sobbing. A very emotional experience, and worth every penny you’ll pay to see it.In case it’s not clear – we loved it!

Zanath, don’t know, but I read somewhere that it would be this week. The Senate passed its version of the bill, which included the immunity, back in Feb. This bill is a compromise between the House and Senate versions. There’s still time to call/email your Senators and ask them to defeat it & send it back to the joint committee.

John Dean brought up a very good point about this bill – the it’s poorly written and may not say exactly what everyone thinks it says re: telecom immunity. I agree with Bob, let’s wait until the senate vote before we call Obama a wanker or a sell out. It seems that we forget that he’s still a senator. He’s not the president yet.
