Late on a Friday afternoon? I guess you’re counting on the West coasties or those of us who have no life, even on a Friday evening. Like me.

Ahhh! Too much freedom!

I’ll give you a topic… Will we bomb Iran before the election? I say with great sadness: ‘one surgical strike — yes we will’.
ceu
Agreed, Bob, although I don’t think it will be one surgical strike. I think they’ll finagle something to make it appear that Iran is the aggressor. A final fuck-you from BushCo. The question for me is will the attack cause a “national security crisis” where elections will have to be postponed or, if not, will voters be stupid enough to fall for the ploy?
Nanotyrannus
I think they will most definitely do it. Cheney & Co know they NEVER have an opportunity like this again. Not even McCain would be as maleable as the circus monkey they have in the Oval right now. The question is how will they rationalize the attack, if it could even be considered rational. They are already going to leave the incoming Prez with enough foreign policy fiascos to deal with so one more would be nothing to them. Maybe that’s the whole idea. Leave Obama with a few insolvable problems then hit him hard in 2012 on how he made all of them worse.

Of all the stupid ideas they’ve had, the border fence is one of the stupidest.

Maybe they get the Israelis to do the deed. They’ve been rattling swords at Iran even more than Bush has lately.
ceu
Oh yeah, Steve. It will be the Israelis that do the initial bombing. They did a training run for it about 10 days ago, reported by the London Times online. (didn’t hear about it in the US MSM, ’cause shit like what color tie Obama wore in NH yesterday took precedence.)The Times article quotes Ehud Olmert: “Iran must be stopped by all possible means,” and “We [Olmert & Bush] reached agreement on the need to take care of the Iranian threat. I left with a lot less question marks regarding the means, the timetable restrictions and America’s resoluteness to deal with the problem.”http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/middle_east/article4178960.ece#cid=OTC-RSS&attr=2015164If Iran does not retaliate, the US could become involved via a trumped-up provocation, perhaps along the lines of the one involving the fishing boats “harrassing” US Naval vessels about a year ago.If Iran does retaliate, a distinct possibility, then Mohamed ElBaradei could be proved correct when he said: “It would turn the region into a fireball. It will mean that Iran, if it is not already making nuclear weapons, will launch a crash course to build nuclear weapons with the blessing of all Iranians…”

And right after I posted that, MSNBC did a story about Iran saying that if it is attacked, it will bomb oil tankers passing thru the Strait of Hormuz.I cannot understand how everyone knows that bombing Iran is a horrible idea except BushCo.
