Real 3D Cartoon Characters

This isn’t political, but I don’t care. Check it out… Would someone pay me to make a CG feature film that has the same production values as these old Hanna-Barbera Viewmaster slides? How awesome do these look:

So much better than the over-saturated, floaty, madcap, pop culture hack jobs that are released as “kids movies” these days.

More Viewmaster slides here.

But there is just something so rewarding about spending hours on end, pushing and pulling vertices, to come up with something really cool. I love my Maya hehe.

You push and pull your vertices? I scream at mine.OMG did you follow the link and look at the rest of the artwork? Do it, do it now.

The trick is to make Maya look like those Viewmaster slides. Solid forms, studio lighting and unusual color palettes. Make some scenes that are slightly out of focus. That would rule. And no moles, no freckles, no super-smooth Jello movements, and no creepy chimeras. Just fun.

Oh, man, we had a ton of these 3D GAF Viewmaster discs when I was a kid. We spent hours looking at them. And begging our dad to buy us more. K-Mart had a HUGE selection of them.
