Aw Crap

All three FISA amendments failed today.

Both Senators Clinton and Obama voted for the Dodd, Specter and Bingaman amendments.

Also, I don’t understand what Greenwald meant when he wrote today:

But today, the Democratic-led Congress — with the support of both John McCain and Barack Obama, neither of whom will even bother to show up and vote – will cover-up those crimes.

I don’t know about Senator McCain, but Senator Obama definitely voted in favor of the amendments today.

He corrects himself later in the article (Update II).I was disappointed, yet not surprised, to see that my senator, Ken Salazaar, voted against the Dodd-Feingold/Specter amendments. I don’t know yet how he voted on Bingamen. I think it’s time for him to go. At the county convention, he got a few boos when he was announced onto the stage…Webb also voted against removing immunity. Hmmm…that kind of surprised me.

Looking forward to Update II, perhaps you can save the relations between Iran and US yourself? Don’t tell me you’re buying any of this “aggressive diplomacy” crap.

It’s not really a big surprise that it passed; I’m sorry the amendments didn’t, but I’m glad Senator Obama’s on record as supporting those amendments.

No. He should have stood on principle and supported the Constitution rather than those who feel the Fourth Amendment is no applicable in today’s world. “You want a FISA bill you remove the immunity” period. It was going to pass, but if this man is going to take an oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States” he should have had the balls and the backbone to do it now.
