Thanks Bob…if only everything worked that easily! I have a really stupid question for all your readers…Why are so many people so against Obama? I don’t understand how they seem to detest and even hate him? For what?? I am blown away by the level of their contempt. It doesnt make sense to me. Are these the same people who “elected” Bush twice? Did they not learn from their horrible mistakes? Do they not see how terrible things have been for the past 7 years that they are willing to put his stunt double, McBrainfart in for 4 more years? Please tell me its not racial….that would be such a sad commentary on our country. If its true…then as they say…you get the President you deserve….

I walked in a local parade last weekend supporting a Democratic candidate to replace Republican US Senator Ted Stevens. Right behind me was the Alaskans For Obama group, and the Alaska Democratic Party behind that. There was a lot of positive support for Democrats, more than I’ve ever noticed before. But of course, there were those that were vehemently against anything to do with us.The only comments I heard in opposition of Obama besides some “booing”, was “Obama, OSAMA!”So there you go.

Honestly, I think some are loathe to accept the responsibility of putting Bush in office. Bush is not the only one who cannot admit a mistake.I also think there is a some racism involved. I am, however, convinced they are in the minority of voters. My hope is that a lot of Republicans are honest, decent people who will either stay away on election day, or vote against McCain.

I live in Northern California in what you would think would be a “liberal” county but is not.Three of out four people I spoke with yesterday told me they would not vote for Barack Obama because he’s black. Period. They don’t care where he stands on the issues, don’t care if McBush carries on the same failed policies – they just won’t vote for a black man (even if he’s half white). It’s very discouraging to me.

Wow…that’s really depressing to hear.and then there is this…http://www.gregpalast.com/Greg Palast investigating possible voter fraud for the 2008 election.

I sincerely believe it’s because Democrats in general have been so demonized in the last 2 presidential elections, and even before, that people who watch Fox News (still the #1 cable news source, sadly) only hear “tax and spend” and “troop-haters” when they hear “Democrat.”My parents, for example, though otherwise good people, think Obama is a radical Muslim who will turn the country over to Al-Qaeda, take all our money, and convert us all to Islam. Actually, most of my family thinks the same way. My uncle actually used the N-word in saying “I’d never vote for a N____, especially one who changed his name from Barry to the more un-American “Obama.” (Really, I can’t make this shit up. No matter how many times I show him Obama’s birth certificate, or explain to him that “Hussein” is one of the more common names in the ME, or that “Barry” was never his last name, or that King Hussein of Jordan was a staunch ally, or that when Obama was born, Saddam Hussein wasn’t even in power, or all the other little nuggets of truth that disprove his ignorance, it’s still “Nope, won’t vote for an America-hating N_____.” Guess who he listens to while he’s driving his big rig?)Of course, then there’s my aunt, who’s voting for Obama because Oprah told her to.I’d say the far-right media, which has demonized anyone to the left of Pinochet, has a lot to do with it, but general biases against race does factor in.
