Mr. And Mrs. Ben Franklin

Oh great. Now there will be more Americans who believe that the real Ben Franklin and the real Betsy Ross were married, too. Others will wonder when Franklin divorced his first wife, Susan B. Anthony.

    Plus Betsy was dating Paul Revere a really long time…. he must have had commitment issues.

    From my reading of Benjamin Franklin’s life, I believe Franklin’s wife Susan B, Anthony died while he was in London. He did not come back to the USA for the funeral services. At that time he was living at a London suburban house owned by Betsy Ross but there is no record of them marrying although some believed they did. After they came back, Betsy passed away and Franklin did attend her services which helped spark the rumors of their marriage. After that, Franklin remained a bachelor although it was thought he had an interest in Theodosia Burr.
