Afternoon Awesome

This is arguably one of Senator Obama’s finest moments. Seriously — how awesome was that?

That totally rocked! He, as usual, put the Repubs in their place.Of course he’s gonna take major crap for calling them ignorant, which they are……….truth hurts.

All he needed to do to make it 100% perfect, was tell the folks there to go get their gauges from the Republicans…Actually – that would be a bunch of fun if all of America started demanding tire gauges from the republicans. Think they could afford it?QT

“They’re very good at negative campaigning. They’re not so good at governing.”"Its like they take pride in being ignorant.”I have been saying this for years, do you know how great it feels to hear your presidential candidate to say these things?

    That really was awesome.–d

  • El Mystico

This seems like one of those instances where the Republicans would take something perfectly reasonable from the Dem candidate, and turn it into a joke, only to have the Dem candidate trip over themselves apologizing for their non-gaffe… Instead of throwing it back in their faces like our man here just did. This sort of thing just makes me happy.

“Its like they take pride in being ignorant.”Posted by: okieindie at August 5, 2008 06:29 PMYeah, that quotation stood out to me, as well. It is the story of the last 8 years.Conventional “wisdom:” If you have a 110+ I.Q. you’re an elitist, and you need to dumb it down. If you flaunt your intelligence you will lose mainstream America. What does such a statement indicate about this nation?Jesus. Also, I love how he half-laughed very naturally as he said, “this is actually what they’re saying.” Politicans have a difficult time of making that seem natural.”Huh-huh. That’s not… change.. we can… believe in. Huh-huh-huh.”

This is what is needed. Ridicule them for their inane statements and turn the table. If only more Democrats and pundits would do this, we’d be much better off. I’m tired of hearing the GOP talking points from a dueling talking heads in the media and not hear factual rebuttal from the supposed Democratic representative.

That was seriously awesome and in no way should Obama back off this statement when the barage of “Obama thinks Americans are ignorant” meme pops up in response.

It’s a good start… but I want a minimum of one smackdown a DAY, and twice on Sundays. Can’t let up on these ignorant douchebags. Time is short.

The big question is will it get played by the MSM. Because this is the kind of thing ALL of America needs to hear, not just the Obama supporters like us on the liberal side of the blogosphere. When I finished listening to it, all I could think was, “Straight Talk THIS, mutha effa!”BTW, El Mystico, you said it PERFECTLY. I agree 100%.

Remember when gas stations were called service stations. You said, “Fill it up.” The attendent smiled and said “Regular or premium?” “Would you like your tire and oil checked? Windshied cleaned?”You didn’t need to offer you first born.

The most ironic thing about this whole situation is that the suggestion for tire inflation has been strongly endorsed in the past by the Bush admin’s energy experts.
