Cesca’s another of these blog-journalists who really, really wants the gonzo mantle of Hunter S Thompson. Cesca scribbles a sort of sportswriter on meth prose as HS Thompson did, though tamer, and featuring obvious targets such as Buchanan: pop-gonzo! It’s not so much about reasoned dissent (ala Chomsky or a Hitchens), but about attitude, the pose, the vibe: Cesca, the bad-boy blog-journalist arrived to do some representin’ about The Man for the homies. Hah. The Truth is that Cesca works for Adrianna nee Xenaxsianilupulos, a very wealthy westside conservative turned slightly liberal, and Adrianna’s HuffPo defines the corporate media, Mr. Cesca.

    Jeez, the least they coulda done was provide a link to your blog rather than to just one entry at HuffPo…altho it kinda appears that the opinion was based solely on that one entry.I disagree that you’re trying to be like Hunter Thompson, but have to ask: what the hell is wrong with a writer wanting to be like Thompson??Where’s that quote from Buchanan about how African-Americans should be grateful to the US for all its done for them? (welfare, EIC, etc) You guys remember that from a few months back?

    errr…I phrased that really badly. What I meant to say was – Does anyone remember where I can find that article by Buchanan that contained the stupid crap cited above? Thank you.

    While I certainly don’t agree with “J’s” simplistic analysis of either Bob Cesca OR Arianna Huffington, the question still must be asked:What, pray tell, is wrong with emulating Hunter S. Thompson?It’s a shame there aren’t more “gonzo” journalists out there today.What we have now are nothing but posers who want themselves to be the news, rather than report or critically analyze it.

    I honestly don’t understand why the fuck you’d even link to that hackneyed shit. Why give that dude the attention/traffic he’s only going to assume is validation for his laziness? Someone should have told him that Buchanan and Hunter were friends, makes his argument look pretty stupid from the very beginning. I love well thought out dissention as much as the next guy, that is not what this is. Really, Bob, in my opinion you shouldn’t dignify trite, pointless shit like this with a response….Unless you publicly gut his core, that would be entertaining and a nice tribute to HST.
