I really dont think those photos of Palin posing naked back in the 80s will help McCain get conversatives OR female voters. And I also think it throws the whole “Obama is exotic” argument out the window.

  • KidDynamo0

Holy shit Ashby is that true…oh man this is like a dream come true.

I can’t stop laughing. WTF was he thinking?? I like Pale & Palin ’08. Good one!

  • HaremScarem

Throw the “too exotic” AND the “too inexperienced” arguments out the window. VP Debate: Biden vs. Palin… that’s not even fair.

  • Tbest609

This is going to kill his Obama does not have experience argument. His second in line to be president has been a mayor in Alaska and a 2 year Gov. Is she ready to be Commander in Chief when McCain’s old ass keel’s over?

  • http://johnhummel.blogspot.com John Hummel

I wonder if this puts the Death Card on the table. I mean, if McCain dies, Palin becomes the first woman president, right?Granted, she doesn’t know what the Vice-President does (CNBC interview – we should find the link), but hey, it’s an offer!

  • JohnGalt

Well, it only makes sense that he try to match the historical nature of the Obama campaign by having the first woman VP and quite probably president when McCain drops dead his first year in office.Oh, and she’s hot…

  • HaremScarem

Seems to me like McCain’s pick is a clear knee jerk reaction to, a) Obama’s historic candidacy, b) the PUMAs, and c) an incredible convention (especially the nomination acceptance speech) that completely overshadowed his own candidacy, thus forcing him to make a “newsworthy” choice to try and take the spotlight away from Obama.

  • ConstanceRifle

Couldn’t he have picked someone NOT currently under investigation? Oh wait, this is the Republican VP pick, nevermind.

  • http://www.clusterdouche.com Elvis Dingeldein

Oh my CHRIST, did anyone hear Kay Bailey Hutchison on MSNBC trying to paint McCain’s life as a hard one, dropping words like “bootstraps” and bemoaning his rough life as a Navy Brat? “Down and out” she says! The Republicans are SO grasping at straws today, they’re punch-drunk from last night.”John McCain served in the United States Navy, he did NOT have an easy upbringing,” Hutchison said, before — and I’m not making this up — accidentally fucking up and saying, “Uh, he was a, you know, he was kind of a sew-his-oats-kind-of-guy!”Sew his oats? Jesus Christ they’re fucked.

Wussup w/McSame and aging beauty queens? Wasn’t Cindy Lou Queen of the Rodeo or something? Obviously another deep thinker. Not. Loving this!

  • camel54

I don’t think it’s as bad a choice as many here do. Yeah, she’s under investigation but for something stupid and she and her administration has cooperated completely. They’ve provided tapes of conversations that essentially prove they have nothing to hide. Her record of fighting her own party in the interest of cleaning corruption will help solidify the maverick mythology. Aside from that, it’s a great story–her knocking all of these old crooked bastard Republicans out of office and undoing the things they’ve done. The Obama camp is working hard to make this about judgment and not experience and Palin has unfortunately shown some very good judgment in her short tenure–particularly in economic matters. It will be hard for the Obama team to make experience an issue for her without shooting themselves in the foot.It is an obvious gambit to take these chances on her though. It gives them the historical gravitas against the first black candidate and also might help woo some of the Hillary crowd who were so hurt that a woman was not going to break the big ceiling. Of course, there may be a backlash on that front as many progressives will not want to see the Republicans cross that barrier. This was a good move for McSame. I think they just countered the Dem convention pretty effectively. Let’s see what happens with the hurricanes and the lack of interest in the Repub convention, though.

I’m fairly certain Cindy is going to watch Sarah Palin like a hawk. I won’t be a bit surprised to see her giving Palin the ol’ stinkeye at some public forum. After all, John McCain isn’t know for his fidelity. That being said, Cindy McCain still remains the oldest chick I’d… Yeah, it’s like that…

  • The Colonel

In the words of Michael Bluth, “Her? Really?”

  • J M Ashby

Biden vs Palin is not even a contest. He will destory her.

  • Tbest609

I vote Palin for Ms. Buffalo Chip!!!

  • ConstanceRifle

“I vote Palin for Ms. Buffalo Chip!!!”I’d like to see that. Rumor has it she’s posed nude somewhere before.

  • ceu

Camel – her “something stupid” was firing a man who refused to fire her ex-brother-in-law for personal reasons – allegedly. Are we prepared to have yet another VP who uses power for personal revenge?

  • J M Ashby

    Palin’s husband works for BP.

  • camel54

NBC First Read seems to be thinking the same way I am, though they did pay a little more attention to the investigation than I think will matter. The good news is Biden will eat her alive. Not that people vote for the number two, but this election has been unique so far. Still, 44-years-old, I have a hard time imagining that people who are genuinely concerned with national security will be gung ho since the top of the ticket is so wizened.

  • camel54

ceu, I know the story. I’m just saying they have been very up front about providing information to the investigators and that is very unlike the current administration. When you consider how the MSM will not even challenge the McCain camp when they are lying, I really don’t think they’ll do very much with this story other than mention it here and there. They’ll ask her, she’ll answer with something Ms. Congiality-like and they’ll all so, “Oh, well that’s that then.” Besides, her corruption fighting record is a great counter argument.Another problem is Biden will not be able to release the hounds on her without the family values type raising a stink for beating up a girl.My only argument is this is not a dumb choice strategically no matter how ridiculous it actually is. The MSM is always willing to give the Repubs a helping hand too. We can’t forget that.

  • recruitgal

camel54, as a woman myself, I say Biden should absolutely release the hounds. And needs Hillary to back him up and point out that this choice is a f*cking disgrace (sorry, but I’m furious about this). If Ms Palin wants to play at this level, she needs to be able to play with the big boys, regardless of how rough it gets.Hill didn’t get a a free pass for being a woman, and nor should she have. The same goes for Palin. She wants to be VP? She needs to suit up.

  • camel54

Oh, I agree 100% recruitgal, but just because I agree, that won’t change how the good little wifey types and the big strong Repub man o’ the house types react and it won’t change how the MSM will always report events in the Repubs favor. They don’t ask questions like, “Shouldn’t Palin realize that this is the big league?” They ask instead, “Is it right for Joe Biden to attack her so forcefully?” Even if the answer is yes, the framing of the question is everything and that’s what we’re up against.I personally want to see Biden come right out and say, “Do they think we won’t question her experience or her readiness just because of the attacks they’ve hurled against Barack? They have sorely miscalculated.”
