The Situation In Georgia

GORI, Georgia — The conflict between Russia and the former Soviet republic of Georgia moved toward all-out war on Saturday as Russia prepared to land ground troops on Georgia’s coast and broadened its bombing campaign both within Georgia and in the disputed territory of Abkhazia.

I have a hunch that this is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Preventing civilian casualties isn’t a high priority for the Russians.

And our president is suddenly concerned about sovereignty and territory:

Georgia is a sovereign nation and its territorial integrity must be respected.

Because he’s set such a great example himself.

“*Insert Country Name Here* is a sovereign nation and its territorial integrity must be respected.”That’s what the fucking imbecile says when his handlers haven’t yet told him what he’s supposed to say.

Come on Bob, when the chips are down when does anyone care much about civilians, especially when the press are at a distance. Dresden, Hiroshima, Grozny, Falujah…
