This One Worries Me

The Republican strategy of making Senator Obama into a terrorist is probably the most dangerous tactic the Republicans have employed in recent memory — and not just ‘electorally’ dangerous. Their 527 Ayers smear ad appears to be getting a lot of play in Ohio.

UPDATE: The Obama campaign strikes back with the truth. I love the final image.

I’m visiting my in-laws in Ohio and saw this ad last night towards the end of the Olympic Closing Ceremonies. UNBELIEVABLE!

After I picked my jaw up off the floor, my mother-in-law had told me that this was something she had seen before and was wondering if I’d seen it in New York. I responded, “They wouldn’t dare show this in New York.”

You can view the ad here, but take your blood pressure medication before you do.

Can’t the Obama campaign counter this shit with the truth? I mean, can someone really be elected to the US Senate if they have real, honest to god “ties to terrorists” – domestic or otherwise? Isn’t there a background check or something that a person would have to pass in order to be a Senator in this post 9/11 world? And then hit the guy in McMansions campaign who has ties to some of the world’s most evil dictators?Oh, and Senator Obama was in grade school during this time period. Geez.Any response from the Obama campaign yet?

Prediction:One major narrative to emerge from the DNC wil be:”Obama goes NEGATIVE.” “Will Obama going negative hurt him?” etc. Meanwhile, they will continue to laugh off and sweep under the rug the negative viciousness that the right wing has injected into the campaign since the Rove-bots came into campaign.
