Attacking Families

Someone remind Morning Joe that families are off limits. But I guess now that Senator McCain is six or seven points down in the polls, families are clearly fair game in Scarborough Country.

Someone remind Joe that if Michelle Obama says Palin is “cute” — it can’t be sexist. And it certainly doesn’t warrant Mika and Joe coming out of the clip with the shocked and exasperated, “Okay. Yeah. Awful. Okay. Bad. Angry. Oh.”

Meanwhile, Pat Buchanan referred to Palin as a “girl.” That’s sexist, Joe.

Yeah I heard Morning Joe..I was meant to be some sort of joke, just that, a joke. I used to watch Morning Joe all the time, now I only watch it when he’s on assignment or vacation or wherever the hell he goes.

This is their distract mode to get the campaign back on Sarah Palin.Do you notice how they’re constantly going to their cell/blackberry (whatever!) .. for their “kids” and “family” … Dumb Mika accidentally let it slip the other day when she said “it’s Tucker Bounds..”Mika’s constantly getting messages from McCain campaign which she either shows Joe or scribbles down their talking points. At this point, nobody but avid McCain supporters, mostly racists, gives a shit what Joe and Mika say. To everyone else, theyre a laughingstock, just like McCain is when he opens his mouth.

Can someone please explain the concept of blind republican loyalty to me? Seems that no matter what “their guy” does they stick with him and defend them to the ultimate detriment of their beloved country? How do they rationalize this?

  • trustno1

cminri, I have been asking myself the exact same thing. I mean, they have to live under a McCain administration, too, should he win (God help us.) I tried to ask my husband if the pursuit of power is worth compromising national security and abandoning every conservative and mnoral principle that they have, but he cut me off at the word “power” with a resounding YES. q.e.d., I guess.

  • cminri

trustno1 – I guess I should have been able to figure that one out myself. Of course – its just that simple – its all about POWER. Wow – now Im really scared…

  • trustno1

cminri,Scared doesn’t begin to cover it. The naked ambition exhibited by those willing to accept a Palin presidency, no questions asked, is causing me to lose sleep. I mean, I still keep thinking that I’m going to wake up from this nightmare. Every day I start my day with this thought: “WHY ARE WE NOT LEADING BY 30+ POINTS?”(No offense, Bob, I read the HuffPo article. It doesn’t make me feel better, though.)

  • cminri

Trustno1 – I feel exactly the same way. Its really mind boggling that some people(read Republicans) cannot (or wont) see the extraordinary gifts that Obama brings to the table. But yet, somehow with the same tunnel vision, they are not able to see all that is wrong with the McCain/Palin ticket. I know that Obama is not perfect, and I dont agree with everything he does (FISA), but he if were to make half the “gaffes” that McCain has, I know I would not blindly vote for him just because he is a Dem.

Republicans “believe” because they are made up of two simple kinds — those that are ignorant, and therefore so dumb they believe what they are told; those that are rich, and therefore benefit from Republican economic policies so all that matters is their almighty profit.

I call them Republican Zombies. They are mindless automatons that walk among us. Devoid of thought, yet somehow able to answer questions whenever the phone rings. We’re gonna need a lot of Zombie Slayers to show up on November 4th. They will be attacking the polls en masse that day.(btw, I haven’t slept through the night in weeks. It’s not just you cminri)See you in November

Great thread–cminri–excellent point. I often wonder why Republicans are so knee-jerk lock step. There is no principle–I also feel this has led to so much divisiveness in the country. This strain of right-winger still can’t admit Bush has been a horrific President on every front. At the end of the day, I do believe it is disingenuous–and the country suffers because of all the “standing on ceremony” bullshit. The Noonan/Murphy open mic was such a watershed because it illustrated how full of shit these people are. I do not agree with Democrats on everything, and don’t hesitate to criticize them when they behave this way.

Paddy posted a link to this earlier today:Die-hard liberals and conservatives aren’t made; they’re born. It’s literally in their DNA.That’s the implication of a study by a group of researchers who wanted to see if there was a biological basis for people’s political attitudes.http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-sci-politics19-2008sep19,0,6283617.story?track=rssInteresting read. Don’t know if I believe it, but interesting nonetheless.
