Bush Doctrine

Many people in our great land might have difficulty defining the “Bush Doctrine” exactly. But not to recognize the name, as obviously was the case for Palin, indicates not a failure of last-minute cramming but a lack of attention to any foreign-policy discussion whatsoever in the last seven years.

That’s exactly it. She never heard the phrase until the moment when Gibson mentioned it. If you’re in politics, there are certain buzz-phrases you’re expected to know. It’s like claiming to be an internet user and not knowing “LOL.”

I just caught part of the interview on my local news, this exact part, and as she says “the beauty of democracy” she winks at Gibson. I don’t why this is pissing me off so much but it’s like she’s back in the PTA.

Funny–I have been sampling conservative radio this morning and meme seems to be either:There’s no clear definitionNo one knows what it isand O’Loofah said he didn’t know what it was–and siad Gibson should have first explained what the Bush Doctrine was–huh?

OT.”Even so, the survey — conducted after both parties staged their conventions and picked their vice presidential candidates — conforms with others that have shown the Republicans grabbing the momentum after a summer in which Obama had steadily maintained a slim lead. According to the AP-GfK Poll, McCain leads Obama 48 percent to 44 percent.”My heart sort of runs with McCain and my mind probably tends to run toward Obama,” said David Scorup, 58, a county government official in Othello, Wash. “I think I resonate more with McCain.”"WTF! Seriously, this guy is going to ignore the intellectual part and go with his “gut”? This sounds eerily familar…

McCain’s surge is media driven–they have given him and Plain a FREE ride on all the LYING, distortion, and nastiness. Even when they kind of call him on it, they say, “he musn’t be aware of whats going on.” The fact that the media have allowed him to claim “change” as a platform doesn;t pass the laugh test, and they grant it to him–it is akin to Obama claiming he was a POW–it’s BULL. EJ Dionne claims Obama can;t count on the media to call McCain on the lies, but if that is the case, it will be VERY difficult to cut through the noise–and it’s only going to get noisier.

My London, England tree surgeon saw the Obama sign on my door and said he and everyone he knew hoped the man would win. Following that he and his young assistants expressed amazement over the choice of Sarah Palin and said just about everything Matt Damon eventually did on his recent video, minus the Disney movie. They were probably too polite. I’m pretty sure, however THEY could have come up with a clearer description of the Bush Doctrine than Palin! The rest of the world is watching anxiously and hoping we don’t bugger this thing up again!

This morning, a co-worker (whom I used to think was fairly bright) commented to me that he’d seen the interview… and asked “what American knows anything about the Bush Doctrine?”My response was, “I do… at the very least, it’s something a vice Presidential candidate ought to be familiar with.”He said, “Bush isn’t her running mate,” and walked away, while I was still picking my jaw up off the floor.By that logic, Palin shouldn’t need to know anything about the Monroe Doctrine, the Truman Doctrine, or, for that matter, Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation, since none of those people are her running mate, either.Jesus H. Christ on a crutch. These are the McCain/Palin supporters. You can’t even have an intelligent discourse with them, their heads are wedged too firmly up their asses. Please – let’s make sure we get out the vote this November!
