I’m so glad he’s our VP nominee. He needs to add that Palin is so afraid of issues that she has run back to Alaska to avoid answering tough questions……

I feel safe saying this here and know that my words won’t be misconstrued…I have a man-crush on Joe Biden. This guy speaks with passion and conviction. Yeah, he’s stuck his foot in his mouth a few times, but that’s bound to happen when you speak from the heart.Just my impression of the guy. Some other ramblings…I have this nagging feeling though that most Americans may be looking at the “black and white”; not in racial terms, but looking for the easy answer and not feeling that shades of grey are worth their time. McCain/Palin present people with what they want to hear – the soundbite that is the answer, the panacea for their fear, and bloodlust (’cause we have to get revenge).I certainly hope that O & Biden can keep the issues front and center – but will Americans pass over the issues and go for personality? It seems our culture is steeped in character worship and I sincerely hope we have not gone too far and embrace the worst of the worst – the cult of personality.

Cowboy, I agree with everything except the notion that McCain and Palin have “personality”. :o ) I’ve watched McCain’s speech a few times now, but I find myself drifting off each time. The man is beyond dull. Palin’s speech had more fighting talk, but again her delivery was so stilted that it lost a lot of it’s impact. But you’re right -the Dems have never been great at putting their ideas into words that are ‘easily digestible’. It’s that old pesky thing about putting up candidates with an education… Crazy ass elitists.

This is the kind of stuff I’m worried about…”Clutching signs with messages such as “Girl Power” and “Sarah Is my American Idol,” moms and their daughters lined the barricades just outside The Chocolate Factory in Cedarburg, Wisc., that served as the backdrop for the rally. The women said they had come to see both members of the new Republican ticket, but couldn’t fake it when asked who they were more excited to lay eyes on.“Sarah!” a small group of them yelled .Meghan Groppe, 12, of Cedarburg explained the enthusiasm.“Because if they get voted in she’ll be the first lady vice president,” Groppe said, flashing a smile missing a few teeth.More expansive but similarly enthusiastic was Cheryl Hauswirth of nearby Grafton, Wis.“She’s a real woman, she’s a real feminist but she’s not strident — she’s like us,” said Hauswirth, a middle-aged mother who didn’t offer her age. “She’s strong, powerful and opinionated, all the things a women should be, while still retaining her femininity, her womanhood.””Pretty scary.
