‘I Meant To Do That.’

So let me get this straight.

McCain seriously effed up in that Spanish-language radio interview and said that he wasn’t sure if he’d meet with Prime Minister Zapatero — not realizing that Zapatero is the prime minister of Spain. An ally of the United States. In other words, McCain thought Zapatero was some sort of Central or South American dictator.

And now, McCain’s gaffe has apparently become part of his foreign policy. Randy Sheunemann:

“Senator McCain refused to commit to a White House meeting with President Zapatero in this interview.”

It’s, “I meant to do that,” only with serious diplomatic consequences.

This is starting to feel like that uncomfortable moment when you realize it’s time to take the car keys away from Grampa before he hurts someone.

^^Ditto. This is in someways getting sad. I wish there were some surrogate with guts and credibility enough to say, honestly, that there may be a health issue at hand here…QT

Admitting you’re wrong is a sign of weakness! Better to insist you’re right no matter the evidence to the contrary. That’s what real men do! And it leads to good decision making, too. Country first!

QT, I think they know it. But they want the power which they’ll get if he’s elected.

Mr. The Bob Cesca – This is a stat I think deserves constant media awareness and repetition, culled from this week’s New Yorker magazine (“The Get” by Steve Coll):

During [Palin's] media purdah, Senator Joseph Biden, the Democratic Party’s nominee for Vice-President, gave fifty-four interviews or press conferences.

(Note: I’m a fairly well-read and literate guy, but I’d never heard the word “purdah” before. It’s an Indian word for “a curtain or screen, to keep women separate from men or strangers.” It’s also the Hindu or Muslim system of sex segregation, “practiced especially by keeping women in seclusion.” So yeah, Coll NAILED IT.)So, to repeat that: In the time Palin spent literally hiding from the media after becoming her party’s nominee for Vice President of the United States, Joe Biden gave fifty-four interviews or press conferences. Sarah Palin: Zero. Joe Biden: 54.Make that fact viral. It’s important.

Biden needs to jump all over this. He hates these neocon bastards and he’s been handed a golden opportunity. By the time he gets done with them they should be wishing that they just admitted the old guy got confused.

Biden needs to jump all over this. He hates these neocon bastards and they’ve handed him a gift. The real beauty is that they’re lying to cover McCain’s incompetence. But it’s now their stated policy position. Go, Joe, go! He needs to hammer away on this tomorrow. When he’s done they should be wishing that they had just admitted that McCain is unfit.
