Morning Awesome

If McCain bothers to show up, I wish Lehrer would ask him this exact same question.

UPDATE: Josh Dobbin from the comments:

Holy shit, I forgot how Clinton used to be when he was on top of his game. He zeroes in on that lady and takes her over with a Bela Lugosi hypnotic eye trick. To her, nobody else in the room existed but the two of them, and YET, he was still playing the room AND playing the camera. The guy was the Michael Jordan of political debate.

Now he’s like, the Michael Richards.

Unbeliavable.Every time they try their trickle-down economic voodoo the SAME THING HAPPENS: growth stalls, tax revenue declines, deficit balloons, real-term salaries decline, inequality soars, unemployment rises. Every single time wealth and income accretes on the “upper crust”. On the upper crust only I should add, and everyone else (>90%) is worse off. It’s obvious to everyone (including them) that aggregate demand grows faster, and more sustainably when pulled by the masses, not the very few at the top, yet they keep doing the same thing over and over again, against all reason and overwhelming evidence to the contrary. They do it and it works fine for them: they get richer AND they keep winning elections. And then there’s the debt thing. They intentionally reduce tax revenues and INCREASE spending, so that borrowing becomes necessary. How is borrowing and spending better than taxing and spending? Taxes will eventually have to be hiked in order to pay for these increased expenditures… plus accrued interest. And worst of all, it’s always military spending that they choose to increase, instead of education, healthcare of national infrastructure (which they cut, cut, cut). It is financial madness at its purest. Did I say madness? I meant suicide. Anybody can see these policies will ultimately lead to the demise of the US of A.Why do people still fall for this sham? Why do people still vote Republican?I’m not American. I am from Europe (married to an American). So I have a real problem understanding why people consistently vote against their own economic interest. I have a real problem understanding why anybody still believes these R-people when they talk. Yet I refuse to believe Americans are stupid. I have lived in your country, which I love, but you guys are going to be in a very bad mess real soon if you let these crooks be around for too long.If our Conservative parties this side of the pond tried to do away with our National Health Systems, or privatize Social Security, their political careers would be over in one milisecond. We call these people wackos, you call them Mr President, or Senator.

I can hear McCain’s answer now: “I know hardship, I lived without a chair or a table for quite some time, blah, blah, blah”.Noun. Verb. POW.

I love the Republican answer to a woman describing job loss and mortgage failure is “You should try MY job! I have to read letters about problems all day!”Unbelievable.

German, I agree with you. Why do people continue to fall for this sham? Because Republicans have the innate ability to use terms like “terrorism”, “socialism”, “elitism” and “patriotism” to inspire the reactions they want in people. Because they know how to peddle their ideas wrapped in the American flag, and people respond like Pavlov’s dogs every time. Because most Americans are too wrapped up in their bubble to look at the big picture and to actually *think* about the drivel that is being fed to them. That’s why you hear people attack Obama as being elitist..because he speaks from facts and knowledge. Don’t bother them with facts. Just give a catchy tag line, like “pit bull in lipstick” and you’re a winner!
