Oink!

Politico:

According to a “summary of requests for federal appropriations” posted to her budget office’s website earlier this year, Palin requested millions of federal dollars for everything from improving recreational halibut fishing to studying the mating habits of crabs and the DNA of harbor seals.

The operative word being “this year.” You can expect a “good earmarks vs. evil earmarks” excuse to come from the McCain campaign at some point very soon. Crab sex! Good earmark! For Sig Hansen!

The hypocrisy is staggering.Given the events of the last 3 days, McCain should change his slogan from “Country First” to “I know you are but what am I?”

unreal–The McCain camp has spit on the press by sequestering Palin–and yet they reward them by covering her as a “rock star”–no accountability, no questions.

A little off topic, but Chris Matthews is kicking ass right now.

  • idreamofskiba

I could’ve swore I heard McCain say something about something involving bear DNA and what a waste it was. Hmmm.

Matthews is a tool-he’ll blow in the wind–he always has. He’ll say something great, and then two seconds later, he’ll reach for the BBQ sauce.

Something I’d really like to see is truthful accounting of “money in – money out” regarding so-called earmarks!I have seen some obscure reporting about Alaska’s “money in – money out”, meaning that Alaska as a whole pays less tax than it receives from the federal government. That means the rest of us American’s pay to support Alaskans!Personally I don’t have a problem with that as long as there’s a real reason. I may be wrong, but I suspect there are many underdeveloped areas that kind of work that way. It’s part of the “we’re in this together” strategy. OTOH, it seems that McCain’s strategy is “you’re on your own”! And he loves to point out that he’s never asked for an earmark. So what is Arizona’s claim to fame? How is it that they do so well with no earmarks? I’d like to see some numbers. From Wikipedia:”Arizona currently has the 21st largest economy among states in the United States. As a percentage of its overall budget, Arizona’s projected 1.7 billion deficit for ’09 is the largest in the country.”So lets look at some numbers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good earmarks: Studying DNA of harbor seals in Alaska.Bad Earmarks: Studying Bear DNA in Montana, as I believe McCain mentioned in a speech recently. That’s just what Montana gets for electing Tester, I guess.
