Petulant Bill

Paul Slansky on President Clinton’s awfulness:

We see your rage, Bill, it’s too huge to hide. We see that — as Chris Rock so brilliantly pointed out — it pains you to even speak Obama’s name. We see you petulantly rooting against him even as you go through the motions of doing the barest minimum on his behalf to avoid being blamed if he loses.

Clinton is sabotaging the Obama campaign with faint praise and obvious opposition. He’s behaving like a sad, bitter old man these days. The worst thing about his snotty behavior is that it’s begging for a McCain-Palin administration, and all of its accompanying incompetence simply out of spite and malice towards Senator Obama’s successes.

How about we NOT do this? He’s stated his support and he’s pledged to engage after his initiative is finished this month. We have real issues to press forward. This isn’t one of them.

Like Chuck D.(Public Enemy) said, “Ya Can’t Truss(sp) it!”

  • Bob_Cesca

    >>How about we NOT do this? How can we avoid it? The former president has been publicly displaying obvious contempt for our present nominee — for purely cynical and self-serving reasons. That’s unacceptable. Plus it plays to a larger idea that Senator Obama has been undermined by very visible Democrats over the last couple of weeks. Why is this?

    I’m tired of their bullshit.

You know, I’ll agree that Bill comes across as self-serving, but everyone should watch his interview with Jon Stewart last night. He was unequivocal in his support of Obama, however late it may be.But eh, what can you do? We can’t make him support Obama whole hog.

  • bibimimi

Just saw him on The Daily Show. “I think he can win” was painful to hear. He’d show more conviction ordering lunch.

absolutely, Bob. Bill’s behaviour seems to be motivated by jealousy and is hugely damaging. (or, to put it another way: enthusiastic behaviour would be hugely helpful.)a constant, enthusiastic, convincing ‘this man is brilliant and needed and here’s why’ message from anyone as powerful and well-known as Clinton would be brilliant for the campaign.it appears that Clinton is putting the personal above the political, here. and that’s very disappointing. :-(

He’s Bill Clinton. He has ALWAYS been self-serving.All I’m saying is that us sniping at Clinton isn’t going to garner any new support from the undecideds, and will only serve to highlight internal divisions that will then be fanned by the MSM to divert us from the REAL ISSUES.Stay on message. I have to respectfully disagree with you Bob (love your blog btw first time commenter)What is it exactly people expect from him? I watched the daily show last night and he’s obviously supporting Obama and wasn’t undermining anything. Its not Bills Job to get Obama elected hes just one man and hes thrown his support behind him as he should and not just because its the right thing to do but because he knows hes the right choice and hes said as much. I get really annoyed when i see Dems/Libs/O Supporters take up the rep flag of “oh look Bills not dog enough, see even Bill don’t want him” throw in a coupe of A-rab American lines and you’re that idiot Rush. You’re picking up their mantra.I supposed he could publicly fellate Obama while donning some pom poms that might make some people happy but really this *is* NON issue he is supporting Obama and has been clear about that and this microscoping and nit picking are dividing people who are the same side.Contempt? i didn’t see that i think you are being either hyper sensitive or dramatic…Anyhoo love, love, love the blog, avid reader but on this we disagree.Jenny

And if Bill stepped out into the spotlight daily to declare to the world his support for Obama, do you know what the headlines would be?”Clinton Outshines Obama – Again”"Why Do Dems Love Bill More Than Barack?!”He’s in an impossible situation. So long as he’s not making NEGATIVE news, I’m fine with him.

  • http://www.englandforobama.com chantoozie

I agree that it’s not a *major* issue – but I do think it’s worth talking about because in an election where there are so many undecideds, where there are so many Big Fat Idiots like Russ L, and so many Lying Liars like BillO, Obama needs *all the enthusiastic public support he can get*!put it this way: if you’re undecided, or luke warm at best about Obama, and *even Bill Clinton’s* not coming out saying how great he is, well, why wouldn’t you think ‘Bill Clinton doesn’t seem to think much of him, so why should I?’. even unconsciously?

  • ConstanceRifle

“I supposed he could publicly fellate Obama while donning some pom poms that might make some people happy”I don’t know about ya’ll, but that really would not make me happy ;)

  • JG

I think what is most upsetting about Bill’s behavior (as well as Hillary’s in the primaries) is that it has kind of highlighted certain things that the right-wing has said about that for years.

  • Pecos Bill

Undecideds?WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE??!After ALL that has transpired the last month, AND continues even now, how can anyone NOT have an idea of WHO they want for POTUS?!To me, they are either COWARDS or FOOLS!!!I mean what’s it gonna take to see the FIASCO that is the PALIN/mccain ticket?!I suspect that there would need to be concrete video footage of Sarah jerkin’ off McNutjob, or doin’ a three-way with Cinbot3000 behind a woodshed in some remote location……Wait, that may boost them in the polls!

  • PackyJ

@ Jenny: What doe we expect from Bill Clinton? We expect him to not say shite like this:http://news.yahoo.com/s/politico/20080924/pl_politico/13831

  • http://jennydemilo.blogspot.com JennyDemilo

@PackyJ i dont see anything wrong with that article and Bills answers to the reporters questions. If the tone of the questions or piece was “whats it like to be the husband of a female candidate” which it seems like it is to me, then what is he supposed to do call Todd a redneck cocksuker? I really don’t get all this “Bills not doing enough” backlash crap. Honestly i think most of the divide and conquer garbage is originating from the conservative camp and for libs to take up their torch and further that cause is just playing right into their hands.
