Proof Of Idiocy

It’s clear that the McCain campaign thinks Sarah Palin is too stupid to take questions from actual reporters. The campaign’s silly games and restrictions today are proof that Palin is unable to withstand even the most basic exposure to impromptu press questioning — especially on foreign policy, the topic of the day for Palin.

How can anyone support this pathetic, incompetent ticket at this point?

I mean, other than because McCain isn’t a scary black terrorist, that is.

Women should be especially embarrassed by all of this.

I beg your pardon? Why should I be embarrassed by this? I had absolutely nothing to do with it!QT

(Apologies for 3 double posts in a row but…) Why is there some kind of assumption that women must take responsibility for the actions of every other woman? The fortune of being in the majority, I suppose, is never having to be embarrassed by the less credible of one’s own kind. I don’t suppose white men need to feel embarrassed by John McCain, do they?(Yes, Bob. I’m giving you a hard time. On purpose. Because I like you, and I’d like you to notice the inherent prejudice in the statement.)QT

I find it impossible to imagine the back-room discussions that must be going on to decide the dimensions of the Mediaproof Bubble they’ve put Palin into. It’s easy to scoff and shout and shake our heads in disbelief while forgetting that real grown men and women are purposefully shielding a major political candidate from the press because she’s simply not able to take questions. Said out loud — when you really stop and think about the dozens of people involved in managing this fiasco — it’s beyond absurd; it should literally be criminal.Any human being with a brain left in their head whose last name isn’t “McCain” or “Palin” who votes for this ticket in November should have their citizenship revoked and be FedEx’d to fucking China.

LOL! Me neither. But seriously folks, who else thinks that Sarah was chosen for just that reason. They knew they wanted a woman. They knew this financial crisis was coming and although Fiorina was a better choice, with her golden parachute…she would be dead in the water. Nobody really honestly considered Sen. Kay Hutchinson. So Sarah it is. Gun totin, Bible quotin, baby birthin Sarah.

I have to agree with QT. I’m a woman, and I’m not embarrassed by her. probably because I’m British. now *Americans*, on the other hand, possibly *should* be embarrassed about her… ;-)

  • Bob_Cesca

    >>I have to agree with QT. I’m a woman, and I’m not embarrassed by her.Didn’t mean to offend anyone, but she’s supposed to be this historical figure and yet she’s, to date, been a horrible example of a female candidate for the second highest office in the land.Put it another way, I’m embarrassed to be an Italian every time I see Vincent Pastore pretending to be a mobster or Rudy Giuliani pretending to be relevant. Rudy especially. THIS was the first major Italian candidate for president?

  • lovetheblue

Female here.Caribou Barbie not only embarrasses me, she offends me.She does not represent anything I stand for or believe in.

  • ceu

I’m not embarrassed by Palin – I’m slightly embarrassed FOR her, in the same way that I’m embarrassed FOR Michael Scott (The Office) whenever he opens his mouth…I cringe, but I can’t help watching. It’s so obvious what is going on – the people in charge now have no intention of giving up that power in Jan, so they found themselves a good little marionette who looks right & has no great intelligence to clash with theirs. They tell her she’s ready, she’s smart, she’s wonderful and she eats it up (shades of Harriet Miers telling Bush that he’s the greatest president EVER!!)The people who should be embarrassed are those who haven’t seen that yet.

“How can anyone support this pathetic, incompetent ticket at this point?”I’m still asking myself, “how the hell did Bush get elected to a second term”?After that any thought that any Republican has a brain in their head is in itself absurd!

    http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.htmlhit this HARD. Don’t 4get2 bring the 2rooth.

“Put it another way, I’m embarrassed to be an Italian every time I see Vincent Pastore pretending to be a mobster or Rudy Giuliani pretending to be relevant. Rudy especially. THIS was the first major Italian candidate for president?”And now QT continues to give Bob a hard time. Should I be afraid of doing so now? Are you the real deal (mobster I mean!)? LOL!OK, I hear you. And I assure you that I know of no one whatsoever except maybe other Italians who looked at Rudy as anything other than a thug and an idiot. No thoughts of him being Italian came into it.Although, now, come to think of it… how do you feel about Rudy being a thug? (OK, just kidding. Honest!)QT

“hit this HARD. Don’t 4get2 bring the 2rooth.”How the hell is it 50-48 still?I don’t get why they allow those open-ended polls. PZ Myers regularly sends his readers to crash various polls with great effectiveness. They can flip the results of a poll in a little under an hour. Seems like a waste of the intertubes to me.

It seems there was some push back today, but I still do not know why our press continues to cover Palin without any access whatsoever–it’s pure propaganda–unreal. They should give her the same amount of coverage they have given Biden–which is close to nothing. There is no journalism anymore–

when I say I’m not embarrassed by her, I mean: good god, of course she’s awful and dreadful and everything. but I don’t think she impacts *me*. I think the Republican party should be embarrassed by her. they picked her. I didn’t.I guess a better comparison would be to say that I’m, say, embarrassed by Benny Hill. hmm.

Hi everyone, this is my first time posting. I enjoy reading this blog. I felt the need to comment regarding previous comments: I am a woman and Italian! And I feel embarrassed first: for the hard core right wingers and dim witted independents who support these people; second for all of us as Americans collectively. However, instead of making a big deal that she’s not answering questions, let them have their way. Who cares? She looks like a high school student on her first field trip as part of Model UN or something. Hit ‘em hard where it counts…in the debates. She can sit pretty for pictures, but when she opens her mouth, she’s a half wit.

  • mcinfla

ceu is right! They wanted a(nother) marionette who was power hungry and pliable enough to do/say whatever they were told but regular guy enough to get the sit down for a beer with vote. The fact that she’s a woman is just a bonus to get the pissed off feminist vote.

  • natashacrk

The McCain camp is a joke.

  • KidDynamo0

Take it easy on her. She thought they were going to the “mock UN” not the real one…she is confused.
