Net neutrality is a very important issue out here on the tubes. My guess… McGramps doesn’t even know what it is.

When I was researching the candidates on their own sites, I was surprised and elated to read how Obama wants to standardize broadband internet across the nation. He wants to use the federal fund that had been established to ensure a working telephone and power grid in the nation (and hasn’t been actually used since) and use it to route next-gen networking standards.It’s not only brilliant, it’s original. It’s not like he was listening to a whole bunch of pundits screaming for this sort of thing and decide, “Hey, I can say that I’m for that.” This is HIS idea!

As a country, we have ensured that every American has access to telephone service and electricity, regardless of economic status, and Obama will do likewise for broadband Internet access. Obama and Biden believe we can get true broadband to every community in America through a combination of reform of the Universal Service Fund, better use of the nation’s wireless spectrum, promotion of next-generation facilities, technologies and applications, and new tax and loan incentives.

I’ve been saying for years that we should have a broadband penetration effort like the Rural Electrification Program, which is the most successful government program in world history.
