Afternoon Awesome

This is quite possibly one of my top five favorite Obama web videos.

ADDING… While we’re at it, why not drop $5 or $10 into our Ten Grand for Obama fundraising goal. In case you’re just joining us, we’re attempting bundle $10,000 in donations by 12AM, November 4. The donations will be in your name, and grouped together with other members of the GDAB community. We’re more than halfway there with 10 days to go. That means we really have to hustle to meet our goal. And if you can’t afford $5, there’s a write-in “Other” field where you can give $1 or $2.

“That One” is just incredible. Can you imagine being one of the people getting those calls?

“What do you think … I just make this stuff up?”Great vid.

  • Nanotyrannus

oh geez I’d be sitting there with little floaty hearts popping out of my head…I’ve been thinking this week and maybe it’s been discussed here, but this video showcases why he won the nomination. He knew from the very beginning that to be successful it had to come from the ground up. He’s done the organizing from that level before and knows how important it is and how it’s done. All the others missed that completely.

Great point Nano. Remember when the Repugs were making fun of “oommunity organizers” at their convention? Just goes to show you how out of touch they are with the world of today.

Wow, I wrongly assumed that the video was from months ago.

Loved the video — one thing I’ve enjoyed about Barack’s success is that even in the midst of all the campaigning, he manages to sound like a genuine human being rather than a damn robot spitting out preprogrammed lines. He has not had his soul sucked out of his body by the political process or been reduced to the most unattractive shards of a once integrated personality. Still seems like a very decent chap to me. No wonder the slimebag attacks against him haven’t worked: you watch him for ten or twenty minutes, and you get a pretty good sense of who he is: not unctuously “warm and fuzzy” but real, with a touch of the professorial about him. It works because there seems to be no disjunction between his public image and who he actually is.

That video brought tears of joy to my eyes.

Yes, well put Nano and Allo (what, no Brontos or Stegos weighing in?)

Not to beat a dead horse, but Obama’s ability to put together a grass roots organization is exactly why he’s the candidate. For over a year, Hillary Clinton walked around, being the “presumed nominee,” phoning it in, while Obama quietly put together a machine comprised of people who believe it’s time for something better.I don’t always agree with his positions on everything, but Obama’s humanity, his sincerity, his humility, and his rare ability to inspire us all to be better people gives him the potential of being the best president I have ever seen in my lifetime (and I’ve been around since Ike). Our country needs this man in the Whitehouse.Dammit Bob, I’ve talked myself into throwing some more $ into the pot.

    Great video.

That? Is a freaking awesome video and it brought tears to my eyes.I’m babysitting tonight – half of the money I earn will go in the pot first thing tomorrow.

Thanks to dontpanic23. Stegos are usually right-wingers. Watch out for them, that’s my advice…. On Nanotyrannus’s comment, right on — organizing has been Obama’s strength all along. Even though his first presidential campaign was probably undertaken almost as a trial run (given how unknown he was and how monolithic the Hillary campaign seemed), once things started looking serious he stepped up as if he had been doing this forever. This shows he’s both talented and adaptable–qualities we ought to expect in a president. Thanks to the last eight years, those qualities seem like manna straight from God’s bakery. I’m find it amusing that the polls keep showing people think McCain is better prepared in foreign affairs—precisely the opposite is true. I would trust Obama over McCain in a crisis situation. The latter seems ideologically rigid and temperamentally reckless: the worst possible combination when you’re in a tight spot.
