Biden vs. Palin

The far-right is making a big deal about Senator Biden’s recent gaffe regarding the next president being tested — hell, Malkin wrote a an entire column this week documenting all of Biden’s flubs. In it, Malkin wonders out loud why everyone’s not making as big a deal about Biden’s gaffes as they are about Palin’s so-called “gaffes.”

Allow me to clarify this. Palin doesn’t make gaffes! Her most ridiculous quotes are absolutely not misspoken words or accidental bursts of ugly truth. Sarah Palin is simply and entirely out of her depth. She doesn’t know what the crap she’s talking about. So consequently she strings together unrelated hunks of whatever she can think of in order to form something resembling a sentence.

For example, here’s a gaffe from Senator Biden: “When the stock market crashed, Franklin Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the princes of greed…” Gaffe. FDR wasn’t president when the market crashed, nor was there television at that point.

And here’s Palin talking in gibberish: “That thankfully our founders were wise enough to say we have this position and it’s constitutional — vice president will be able to be not only the position flexible.” Gibberish! She has no idea what she’s talking about even though the question was about the job she’s running for.

See the difference? Now that doesn’t forgive Senator Biden’s obviously anachronistic comment, but then again, everyone knows who Senator Biden is and nobody is seriously questioning his experience and aptitude on the issues. Sarah Palin, on the other hand, is a big nothing. She’s an unknown. A lightweight. Two years ago, she was the mayor of small Alaskan town with a population smaller than your local Applebee’s. So when she screws up, it’s in the context of being a doof who’s out of her depth. Hence, the coverage and outrage.

umm, but one thing–the MSM has covered every Biden TP that has been raised by the right–name one they haven’t? The latest one has been all over cable news–The FDR/TV, again all over cable news. Taxes=Patriotic, all over cable news. What exactly are they talking about?

I was trying to write an article about Palin’s antagonistic attitude towards the English language, but found it impossible to do so. There are no particular problems to fix, other than a complete lack of comprehension. As Bob, and many others, said…its gibberish, and its fucking insulting. It amazes me that people who spend so much time railing against teaching our kids other languages don’t bother to come to terms with their own. Is it too much to ask to have public officials that are coherent?

Also, it’s the gist of what someone is saying that really matters. An anachronism can be forgiven if the point still holds true: In this case the point is that FDR didn’t lose his shit in a crisis.Hell, people even got what Bush was trying to say when he said “people struggle to put food on their families”. Palin responses really do resemble that horrible “Americans don’t have maps. And such as.” moment.

Bob,There was NO gaffe!Less than 24 hours later Chertoff said that whoever was elected would be tested!Today we have AQ saying they’d love to see McDouchebag elected! That was part of the “rope-a-dope”!In the next few days we will see the “age card” played, and properly so, because Palin could be the one dealing with such a threat!Obama has this! Calm down! Just vote!Obama and Biden play well together!

SEXIST! Us liberals just don’t understand how real Americans talk. I’m learning a lot this election cycle. Once this is over I will go back to just admiring Bob’s hair…..and that’s it.Go Blazers!

McCain dropping the C word on a stump speech today = gaffe.McCain agreeing that racist people are racist and then awkwardly trying to regain his sentence = gaffePalin blurting out a position on Pakistan that was in line with Obama when the night before her running mate had mocked him for it = gaffeObama misspeaking and saying that he’s visited 57 states = gaffeJoe Biden laying a foundation based in reality that things are going to be tough for the next administration. That just electing someone isn’t going to make things instantly awesome right away. That it’s going to take patience, hard work, trust and confidence in their administration and that they need to tough it out. Then (if you read the actual transcript not the conveniently right wing edited version) make the case that Barack Obama has a spine of steel and will absolutely be the best man for that job = NOT A FUCKING GAFFE.These people i swear to GOD fucking revel in being stupid.

And apparently, according to Brian Williams, Joe Lieberman said the same thing about the next POTUS being tested within the first few months of his administration. I guess its only bad a thing when a real Dem says it.

Biden tends to indulge in rhetorical excess, as is often said, but he’s intelligent and capable. His “mark my words” claim about how the evildoers are out there cooking up tests for Obama was over the top, but I don’t believe it will matter since by this late date, it seems that most people who already support Obama think he’s steady-on and likely to do just fine in a crisis. It’s McCain who has been running around like a character in one of those old fast-motion skits on the Benny Hill Show.

Being from Alaska, I cringe every time Palin speaks. She is an embarrassment. On behalf of all thinking Alaskans: Sorry, America.

I was discussing this very subject yesterday. When one is in front of a large group of people and/or a camera, or even if you have just had a stressful day, misstatements can easily be made. I don’t care if Biden gets which President said what when about the depression or anything else. What really gets to me is REPEATED LIES. That’s a problem. It’s also a problem when statements are taken out of context, or even purposefully made to incite fear, hate and anger. It doesn’t matter who gets elected into office. They are inheriting an incredible mess and, yes, we WILL all have to patient and supportive. AND it’s not just the President sitting there all by themselves making huge decisions, it’s the team that they choose to surround themselves with, to supplement their own strengths and weaknesses.I addressed that in a previous blog which you can read here:http://girldujour.wordpress.com/2008/10/21/the-company-we-keep-helps-define-who-we-are-and-what-we-stand-for/To poke fun at Biden (who I like, but think should choose his words a bit more carefully) I only have three words:Obama for President.

One other thing, which might be a bit off subject… I read that Pat Buchanan was disqualified from running for President because he injected religiion into the campaign too often.WTF?Palin does that every single day. So, not only is she an idiot, she is an inexhaustible extremeist bible beater.

So let me get this straight….John Mccain can’t stop inserting incorrect, often profane words into his sentences (cunt instead of cut, prisoners instead of Americans). Sarah Palin is busy stringing together random words and phrases, and forcing 3rd grade teachers to explain to their students that what the Vice Presidential candidate said about the role of the Vice President is wrong…Republicans showing up to these rallies are revealing just what terrible people they are by screaming death threats (or maybe just a harmless racist remark or two). But somehow “the looming crisis that worries the Obama campaign right now is Joe Biden’s speaking engagement?”I think she’s finally pushed me over the line from mere amusement/disbelief/dislike, into the realm of pure hatred. What a shameless (but sharply dressed!) clown.

I don’t think they’re worried about it. They haven’t even addressed it, save for a blog on their website. John McCain is going around stepping on his own dick everywhere he goes and Palin, well, just give a little more rope. She’ll hang herself. They can’t help it. It’s just who they are.
