She was utterly taken off guard and could only respond with “He’s a maverick” line.As I pointed out on my own blog, after watching this debate, I went to my computer and printed off my very first voter registration.My vote may not mean much in my state (Utah of all places), but this is the first time I’ve felt like it’s worth casting one anyway!

She sure has the inappropriate Republican affect down pat. She can enter their Hall of Fame along with the Rumsfeld sickly smile, the Bill Kristol look of let’s-kill-em-all delight, and, pf cporse the ever-present Laura Bush strychnine grin.

Whoa. I did not watch this debate on CNN, so I did not get to see that graph at the bottom. Did you notice how it peaked when he choked up, then flatlined when she used the word ‘maverick?’

That line dips like a plane crash. How are these idiots in the moving box thing calling this a draw and saying she’s much smarter than she was last week? Because she can memorize? Shit.My 20 year old who is only 2 years removed from the cheerleader set, watched her for a while and said she reminded him of those girls who are cheerleaders and go into student government only on their popularity. He hasn’t been watching much news but got that one dead on.

That moment last night just infuriated me. Joe opens himself like that and she can’t even deviate from her memorized script long enough to acknowledge it. And when I told someone that one of the drinking words last night was ‘maverick,’ they asked me, “How are you not dead?”The pundits certainly have been glad to give Palin lots of props for not vomiting on stage, but I read a column from one guy from The Times in the UK which I thought put it really well. He basically says that Palin needed to do more than survive – she needed to score a major win. With the momentum Obama has right now, she needed to do something substantial to stop it. Elvis you’re damn tootin’ I do. I had to do it myself–he’s so apathetic but does like Obama–and 2 years ago got him an absentee ballot so he couldn’t weasel out of his duties. This year I’m going to have to pick a good restaurant to buy him food and swing by the early polling place to make him stand in a small line. There’s no way he’ll wait till election day and stand in a long one–he’ll find some way to escape. Plus he has to be bribed with food or he’ll never slow down long enough. My 23-year old daughter is just the opposite. She’d wade through a river of shit if that’s what it took to vote, and loves doing it on election day for the experience of it. She came back from the UK 4 years ago so she could vote the first time in person. I think my male child was switched at birth.

The Critics are jumping on Biden already over this. As a woman, it really disgusts me that men who step up to care for their children are not praised or even acknowledged. I am one of those women who believe in abolishing alimony payments, they are outdated, sexist and unfair especially when no children are involved. Child support however, is the only exception. So having said that, I felt Biden’s emotions where genuine and those cynical critics out there on the right wing only prove to me that their party is psychopathically void of compassion. I will defend ANY father who shows affection for his children. The debate reinforced my observation that Palin is faking it all the way to the elections, she didn’t even promote McCain. Who was it exactly was she promoting?I’m hearing the NeoCons saying watch out for Palin 2012. Yeah, thanks John for the VP pick, this is about me now, Todd and I have plans when we get into office.
