Insider Advantage shows Senator Obama leading by one point in Georgia, 48-47. While I remain skeptical that Senator Obama can win there, I’m beginning to think that it’s a strong possibility.
Jesus H. Particular Christ, are you talking about the state Georgia, as in south of SC/north of Florida? I won’t believe it until I see it. Even with Atlanta and suburbs sitting there in it, Georgia is raving lunatic Red. (My apologies to anyone here who lives in GA. Chances are you are gasping like I am at the above figures).

There’s also a close race between our Republican Senator Saxby Chambliss and his Democratic challenger, Jim Martin. This Georgian shares Bob’s skepticism (especially given Diebold’s track record in this state), but I’m doing my damnedest to contribute to the cause on both fronts (pres and senate).Very exciting!

I’m getting greedy. I want them ALL. I want it BIG. If only to get some satisfaction on election night of watching the BBQ media squirm and see the egg on the surrogates’ faces.Forgive me, God.

I’m from Savannah, and as much as it pains me to say it, the one thing that scares the living shit out of my family and friends still there would be the idea that there might be a larger than usual black voter turnout. Believe me, in rural areas of Georgia, they are probably behind closed doors planning for the fucking apocalypse. It doesn’t surprise me at all to read that a combat brigade has been stationed in Ft. Stewart/HAAF. They are expecting trouble if Obama should lose the election, and they are expecting it in the South.

I currently live in Atlanta, and I voted during the second week of early voting (Sept 27) and the lines were wrapped around the building. It was a lovely sight. Every day on the news they show the lines, and the turnout is crazy. I have very high hopes of winning Georgia. Since we have no paper ballots or print outs to prove we actually voted, I just pray our votes don’t get stolen.

I told you so in that other post you made about Ga. I’m predicting a blue Ga after Nov. 4.

Nano, my family is semi-preparing for a different scenario, at least in thought. My SIL and I separately, I found out when telling this to my daughter on the way to vote yesterday, are worried that they will steal it again and we will have a very real major bloody uprising on our hands. This time there is a genuinely deep emotional investment in our candidate by almost all of his supporters (unlike the tepid Kerry or Gore). And I’d have to say, we would NEED a takedown in this scenario because our government as it was would be lost to us forever. Don’t read this as inciting. I’m just getting a bad feeling if the theft happens again.Sometimes I wish we could hand ourselves back over to the Brits and say “We fucked it all up–fix it please”. These days they win over their former conquests with infrastructure, not moralizing and forced US style democracy. And it works.

Hmmm. Maybe CNN’s pink Georgia on the electoral map isn’t so wrong…
