Good News Bad News

Good news: CNN is cancelling Glenn Beck’s awful HLN show. We all know why. It turns out, American television viewers don’t like watching a doughy hemorrhoid with a worldview that’s two steps more simplistic than Morton Downey Jr.

Bad news: FOX News doesn’t seem to care that Glenn Beck is a disaster on television, and has hired him to appear on their network every day at 5PM.

I wonder sometimes what the breakdown is among the audience.People like to watch The Apprentice…Big Brother…Ow, My Balls!…a show called Shoot the Stupid Bitch! would do well against Seinfeld or Cheers. So, I sometimes wonder what percentage of the audience is listening for information, or because they fundamentally agree with the philosophy, or because they can’t wait to see what outrageous train wreck of logic and decency is coming nextI’m sure it varies from one to the other…Beck being somewhere south of Rush and slightly to the right of Hannity – sadly not downwind from the rest of us.I mean, I know there’s plenty of idiots, rednecks, jesus nuts and garden variety recidivists out there who guffaw and ‘gosh dern right’ along with every vicious epithet…but I’m also pretty certain that wouldn’t change programming decisions one fucking inch – just the advertising they sell.ORLY gets the bath products, Rush shills for cigar makers, and Beck for the ‘All in the Family Sex Education” tapes. But they’re still going to find a broadcast home.Sorry. I’m feeling depressed about the potential for voter fraud litigation.http://cousinavi.wordpress.com/2008/10/17/vote-fraud-is-a-myth-i-love-dahlia-litwick/

I think its really Good News all around. Its fine with me that Beck goes to Faux news..he belongs there anyway. I would rather have them all there in big giant cauldron of spew. Faux nes is blocked from my remotes, so now I wont have to run across Beck by mistake. Now if only we can Lou Dobbs and his dentures to take the leap…

I don’t why why Faux Noise would care about Glenn being a disaster on TV – just one more to add to their already extensive collection.

He is definitely where he belongs. Now I won’t have to mistakenly stumble on his ugly mug anymore when switching between CNN and MSNBC.

GOOD!now it’s one stop shopping for the mouth breathers.

I have wondered for SO long who actually watches Glenn Beck and how this person ever managed to get his own show in the first place (both radio and TV!). I definitely agree that a more suitable venue for him would be Fixed Noise, but I can’t believe it took CNN this long to can him in the first place. What were they thinking? I’m so sick of this attempt by the MSM to always be “fair and balanced” by having the likes of Pat Buchanan, Joe Scarborough, Lou Dobbs, and Glenn Beck on the air ad nauseum. Faux News doesn’t even try to appear “fair and balanced” (although that is ironically THEIR slogan)–the one progressive on that network, Alan Colmes, is constantly talked over by Hannity and his guests. Thank god for Matthews, Olbermann, and Maddow. They’re the only ones I watch these days.

Finally! A suitable replacement for that martini-soaked shithead John Gibson.Beck trumps Gibson is the obvious philosophical conclusion.

Hey all, I’m still in Cafferty watch. Haven’t seen him in over 2 weeks, and nothing from CNN comes back when I email asking about him. Anybody know what’s up? Last time I saw him on the air was when he alleged that McCain was likely lying when he says he believes Palin is qualified to be VP.I put the youtubes up on my blog if anyone’s interested in the backstory. Me thinks Capt. Jack has been tossed overboard.

doughy hemorrhoid:You made me spit my tasty beverage on my screen.

Why was beck on CNN? All the formerly real news sources feel obligated to have their own version of right-wing nut-baggery in order to prove they, too, are fair and balanced.

It’s all about ratings and murdoch trumped them horribly by

    (a) creating a market through a perception management campaign that convinced the easily swayed that “The Media” is a left-wing biased propaganda machine. Then,

    (2) creating a solution that only appears to be right-wing propaganda because you haven’t seen the truth in so long.

    BRILLIANT! and profitable.

re: Cafferty I’m going with a leave of absence/sabbatical/vacation. The man lost his wife recently. He’s due for a break.

Beck is just another bag of ass that calls himself “independent!”Hey, didn’t Brit Hume throw up his hands and quit? Like just the other day? Or was I dreaming that?
