It would be great if he resurrected this speech in the coming weeks.

It’s interesting how Obama more often than not gets things right before they happen and how WRONG Bush and McCain have been about everything.

  • Brad

    fucking perfect.

  • The Colonel

    Bob, have you seen this?http://www.americablog.com/2008/10/climate-of-hate-that-mccain-and-palin.html

I don’t usually like to “toot my own horn” when it comes to making accurate predictions, but when Obama gave the keynote at the 2004 Democratic convention, I turned to my husband and told him we were watching a man who was going to be elected president of the United States one day.I expect to begin tooting (my horn) on Nov. 4th.

Last summer I walked into the local bookmart and picked up a copy of The Audacity of Hope from the massive pile amassed at the front of the store. My then 12 yr old son said to me “Why are you getting that?”. I told him “Because he’s going to be President”. Thank goodness my son remembers that moment…he rarely remembers anything else I tell him, but if that’s the thing he remembers, I’m happy.

  • kansasdem

WTF?How do they equate this to being a typo:”NY election mix-up: ‘Osama’ on the ballot”http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081010/ap_on_el_pr/osama_ballotThe “s” and the “b” on my keyboard a long ways apart!

  • Poleezz

I had a similar experience about 3 years ago Cactusgal. I was watching Obama in a impromptu press conference after the passage of reform legislation had passed. The press bascially ignored all the other people involved and were all focusing on him. This was my first exposure to Barack. I knew right then. I told my husband all about it when he got home that evening. What we are witnessing here is the making of one of the greatest presidents in our history. It is an amazing time to be alive.

Ah, the Rovian Electioneering begins. Next we’ll see ballots listing him as Saddam Hussein Obama. Or maybe just “That One.”

  • cactusgal

You know, Poleez, you and I think a whole lot alike. I almost feel as though I know you.

  • kansasdem

Awesome article by Eric Schmeltzer at HuffPo:http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eric-schmeltzer/a-new-low-mccain-camp-con_b_133729.htmlYeah, I remember the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin! And right wing idiots do shoot liberals – just for being liberal!

  • CupcakeCult

Please tell me that ballot with Barack Osama is a hoax! Please?

  • kansasdem
  • kansasdem

You know sometimes I make typos and overlook them – you’ll see a “p” where there should be an “o”, an “n” where there should be an “m”, etc. – sometimes I leave out words or use the wrong word and don’t catch it – BUT THIS WAS NO TYPO!And please – you and I both know that before you make a final draft of any actual document you proof read it!This is horrible behavior and sonmeone should get their walking papers!

  • CupcakeCult

That ballot thing made me so sad. I am glad I found this Betty White clip to cheer me up.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxL7MKsGoPoBetty White is so cute.

  • jane

So McCain finds he can’t put the toothpaste back in the tube (by defending Obama’s citizenship and character now).Fuck him.

  • ceu

YES! Unanimous vote to release the report on Troopergate! Good. We have a right to know the results of the investigation. And we’ll be listening to the McPalin campaign whining that it’s not fair because they didn’t interview Sarah Lou.

  • JG

This is unbelievable–what’s weird is the blogs are reporting the woman said “Arab terrorist,” and CNN just reported it was just “Arab.” Does anyone know what she really said? Eiether way, it so clear they have poured gasoline all over there base–and it just takes one person to spark an explosion. This is unbelievable, and cable news is still kind of framing it as “both sides.” I am so sick about this, and the media is not only turning a blind eye, but they are enabling it.same with the “race card.” it’s almost as if they want racism to affect the race–FUCK the Bradley effect–John McCain should be ashamed of himself–I have to be honest, I am surprised how low he has sunk–comparing a political candidate to a terrorist is beyond despicable.

  • cminri

What’s up – No Live Blogging open thread tonight?!?!? There’s so much to discuss!

  • jane

We can’t stop meeting like this.

  • cminri

NFW Jane! Blog we must! Shuster doing a decent job on Countdown…discuss!

  • jane

    Wait. add keep. Better.

  • KatinWilm

JG – I’ve seen the clip twice tonight, and while I didn’t have the volume blasting or anything, it sounded like the woman only said “he’s an Arab.” I started thinking about it, though…especially in regards to our conversation on this Goddamn Awesome Blog a couple days ago and whether or not some of the wack-jobs yelling things like “Terrorist!” were plants or not. And while I still think those particular people were not plants, I feel that from the clips I’ve seen today, the “audience members” that were asking McNoFly about Obama being “unsafe” and an “Arab” were plants. There is something about the manner in which they asked their questions that struck me as disingenuous. I believe the people today were, in fact, plants to try and make McDouche appear that he was against these attacks. I think it’s too late for him though.

  • jane

Oh NOOOES. Just starting Countdown. Hates the Shuster mostly.

  • cminri

Kat – either way he loses I think. But that woman saying she thought Obama was Arab sounded profoundly ignorant as only a McCain supporter can.

  • KatinWilm

Jane? Have you been watching “Lord of the Rings” before blogging again?

  • jane

    Anyone suffer through Paulson presser?

  • ceu

They found that she abused her power by firing Monegan. Lying, untrustworthy, ignorant, arrogant twit! The clip showed the woman said “Arab” and that came straight out of Rush Limbaugh. Cesca posted about it a few weeks back – Limbaugh saying Obama wasn’t from Africa (he’s not, he’s from Hawaii!), that he’s an Arab American. It was pretty outrageous. So now we have proof of the caliber of Limbaugh listeners.

  • jane

    I can has Rachel????

  • cminri

HAHAHAHAH Jane…I wish I thought of that one!

  • cminri

HAHAHAHAH Jane…I wish I thought of that one!

  • jane

CM, are you responsible for the feel-good video today? (thanks)

  • cminri

Yes, Jane…I was really starting to feel very sad and demoralized after all the goings on between those horrible McCain/Palin rally videos and all the other shit that is going on…I just felt I (we) could use a reminder of one the commmon bonds we all share.(and btw…that double post was typekey’s fault, not mine!)

  • jane

Yeah right, the dog did it

  • kansasdem

I know ceu already mentioned this but,Breaking News AlertThe New York TimesFriday, October 10, 2008 — 8:27 PM ET

  • cminri

This is turning out to be not such a bad day after all.

  • jane

A toast: to the end of another “news cycle!”

  • jane

    Happy ten-ten! btw.

  • JG

Watch the BBQ media call this Troopergate “no big deal.”I just get the feeling they will roll over on this as well–They’ve been planting BBQ seeds all along–”he was a bad guy” etc.

  • KatinWilm

Of course, as I flip through the channels, only MSNBC is talking about Palin and the recently released report. They must be serving up some damn tasty bbq ribs tonight. On a happier note, “Princess Bride” is on AMC!

  • kansasdem

Oh, and who could McCain bring in as a replacement? The one that might energize the base – Newt!Seriously, those assholes see Gingrich as Ronny Raygun reincarnated!

  • cminri

    I love Karma.

  • cminri

And of course this Troopergate thing is released during the infamous black hole of the Friday evening newscycle…Oh well..

  • kansasdem

Where’s Elvis when we need him?

  • KatinWilm

My future wife Rachel (CT is such an easy drive) is looking much better tonight. I think they’ve finally figured out how to do her makeup so she doesn’t have that raccoon thing goin’ on.And she is kicking ASS about the jackass who called to “bomb Obama.”

  • kansasdem

Listening to Larry King live ……….. it’s hoot!Con-swerve-atives arguing that abuse of power is no big deal …………. just freakin’ priceless!

  • cminri

Isnt “Abuse of Power” a chapter in the Rethuglican handbook?

  • Poleezz

Hey Cactus,Maybe we were related in a former life.

  • kansasdem

Can’t get MSNBC here. They won’t add it to the cable line up and I won’t cut down the trees I’d have to to get dish.I just have to wait until I can watch it on the net.

  • cminri

Kansasdem – I’ve heard that before about certain cable systems not carrying MSNBC. Any idea why? It would help to explain why their rating numbers are substantially lower than Faux News and CNN.

  • ceu

Don’t come looking for Rachel in CT, Kat. She lives in MA. :)

  • KatinWilm

ceu, I was just referring to CT’s ruling today allowing gay marriage (woo hoo!). Of course, so does MA, so it really wouldn’t matter. :)

  • KatinWilm

I think, cminri, “Abuse of Power” may be the title of the handbook.

  • kansasdem

“I’ve heard that before about certain cable systems not carrying MSNBC. Any idea why? It would help to explain why their rating numbers are substantially lower than Faux News and CNN.”cminri,I know why. I live in an area that’s 80% + conservative!FOX news is the preferred choice here!I’m not surprised at all by the behavior of these idiots at the McFailin’ rallies.I see this every day.Republicans need to hate! It doesn’t matter who they hate, they just need to hate! With Reagan it was “welfare queens”!Which included a large number of truly mentally ill folks that needed help and under reagan they got kicked to the curb.I could go on infinitum but it’s pointless!Republican’s are haters! In their tiny world they need someone to blame!

  • kansasdem

As far as someone to blame goes:The gays are responsible for all sorts of calamities! Our liberal moral decay is the reason for the decline of our great nation!More Aesop’s fables to follow!

  • cminri

At least Aesop’s Fables usually had some kind of point, didnt they?!?

  • ceu

    Ah…’k, Kat. I wasn’t thinking about the ruling. :)

  • yelorose

Oh Newt would be a great choice!! Isn’t he the guy that divorced his wife who was dying of cancer, and served her while in the hospital? Great moral fiber to take over for failin palin. Lower case on the name on purpose, exactly as deserved.
