When I see the fawning faithful slobbering over McBush and Failin’ Palin, for some reason all I can think of is Pink Floyd (sans the revolt at the end, of course).http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M_bvT-DGcWw&feature=relatedMarch in line, sheeple! No independent thought or questions allowed.

  • J M Ashby

In terms of music, Bush and McPalin just make me think of the new Everlast album. The first song on the album is “Kill the Emporer.” And then there is another song on the album that tells about a girl named Liberty being raped by the emporer.

  • JG

George Bush’s America as heard on MSNBC juts now:$3.00/Gallon gas will help Americans out–huh? I guess $3.00 gas is considered a bargain now…

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Has anyone heard or seen anything about Jack Cafferty lately? I’m pretty convinced he’s been iced by CNN for telling the truth…a capital crime in the corporate media. More details on my blog.If anyone knows anything, let me know, eh? thanx!

  • Poleezz

Ok well as far as music goes I think that Dylans “Idiot Wind” nails it for Palin.

  • Poleezz

Oh no shit! He has been getting radical as of late and popping off to the Jackal Blitzen.

  • J M Ashby

I think Cafferty is taking time off. Im pretty sure if he was redacted out of the show it would have been widely known. Cafferty is almost the only reason I would ever turn on CNN. If hes gone that garuntees ill never watch again. MSNBC really outta nab him up.

  • J M Ashby

Oh by the way I highly recommend Cafferty’s book; Its Getting Ugly Out There.

  • JG

New BBQ fear narrative–the Democrats WILL CONTROL EVERYTHING if there is a landslide. Mind you this is not being mentioned as if it’s a paradigm shift, but rather as a SCARY thing.

  • dontpanic23

Cafferty’s wife died recently. Could be he’s taking personal time off.Followed the “Wall” link and it took me to “Wish You Were Here” which I’m listening to now. Man what a song. Would be on my list of 100 best ever.

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

If you were a National Television Journalist standing at the epicenter the largest economic disaster in nearly a century, and simultaneously watching the potential hijacking of history by an unqualified politician in heels….would you pick now to go on vacation? It’s not announced on his blog that he’s on vacation…he made no mention of it, and I’ve not heard anyone else say “and while Jack is away…”My money is on the likelihood that he got called on the carpet and told to tow the line, and instead he told them to stick it.

  • Poleezz

Fat head Dobbs blaming Bush and the LIBERAL DEMOS for the bailout. I wish his head would just go ahead and explode!

  • JG

Watching the Tweet-peat. Does this a-hole understand what he is doing. All of this murky airing of right wing TP’s is exactly what Bob is talking about–it essentially reinforces the TP.I love how Tweety now says he opposed the war–BULLSHIT. He blew in the wind just like every BBQ media type–This kind of stuff is exactly why we are in Iraq, and I am not saying it will happen, but it is this kind of BBQ-think that could give us President Palin.

  • dontpanic23

If we all picture Dobbs’ head exploding at one time, do you think we could make it happen? Did the Yippies who tried to levitate the Pentagon just not try hard enough–maybe one guy was thinking about something he saw in Penthouse? If I had to pick one Floyd song for the 100 best ever songs I think it would be “Us and Them”. And that even fits with the category of politics, Alex.*slap* shut up, DP. Hey, who spiked the Vault? Next I’ll be seeing streamers in purple. As you were.

  • JG

Wow, Tweety is such an idiot–He just said manipulating the low info voter is how we got into Iraq. Again, does he realize that airing the “question” is the same as reinforcing the issue for the low info voter. Our media has become so dangerous to our democracy, and just as wit the march to war, they have no idea…

  • El Mystico

So uh… Matthews is giving it to Buchannan pretty good. That’s nice to see at least. Going after his middle name to make him sound foreign and create false associations is legitimate? Thanks, Pat, and now back to the Mines of Moria with you!

  • Poleezz

We might be able to confuse him but I don’t know how we would tell. Yeah Us and Them. One bad ass jam.

  • J M Ashby

What have you been drinking DP?I’m not sure why the media is still clinging to talking points. No one is listening to it. The only people all of this Hoopla will reach is the lunatic fringe which McCain can already count on. Everyone that is not living in Bizzaro world doesn’t give a crap about anything other than their pocket book at this point.

  • El Mystico

Uhh… some b*tch form NM just said “Barack Obama is getting more and more desperate”… No. McCain is, the financial market is, anyone with rent to pay is… Obama, not so much.

  • SharonAustinTX

Note: Investigation by Senate Ethics Committee requested today into McCain’s not reporting his gambling winnings on his annual financial disclosure forms as a Senator.Source: The Political Carnival and DKos websites.pdf file of formal request/complaint included.

  • Poleezz

If there is anything more disgusting than Mathews…oh nevermind…

  • dontpanic23

JM, just Vault and somebody above spiked it with Pink Floyd. It sometimes causes psychoses. How can you guys possibly watch Tweety TWICE? I can’t stand him once and have Scrubs on w/o sound and (h/t ReadyToHurl above) some great music.

  • dontpanic23

psychosis. also messes with my spelling and punctuation.

  • Poleezz

Dobbs is trying to connect dots between ACORN and Obama. I’m not watching him now, but I heard him ranting as I was surfing past his smelly ass.

  • Poleezz

Do you think Dobbs could be a Nazi? I can see it.

  • dontpanic23

Yes, a Nazi works. Is there really an investigation into McPuke’s gambling winnings/taxes? Holy shit, they might talk about it on the tee vee for 5 whole minutes. Shazam.

  • dontpanic23

Poleezz so that’s what that smell was–not olfactory hallucinations. I was trying to get to Shrubs and heard him say “Acorn” and “Democrats” too. Run away! Run away!

  • Poleezz

Must check my bird. I think it’s roasted.

  • dontpanic23

That can be painful. This evening news thing is much more fun without a news channel on. You guys are better company (until eight–sorry, but Olbie is the man).

  • Poleezz

What do you think we’re waiting for?

  • Poleezz

PBS has a great story on about Afghanistan right now.

  • J M Ashby

Just 10 minutes to go until I turn my TV on. What would I do without you Olbermann.

  • dontpanic23

I’d just blow the damned thing up if there were no KO (and now Rachel as dessert).

  • Poleezz

    Catcha on the flip side…

  • J M Ashby

    Rachel as dessert…. mmmmmm yes

  • ceu

Music….Today’s Jackson Browne’s birthday and I recommend “Lives in the Balance” – powerful song that was written in 1986 and is very relevant today.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t1z584iSa0IIf you don’t like Jackson Browne (which is unimaginable to me…) go read the lyrics:http://www.jrp-graphics.com/jb/litb.html

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

    McCain is such a fuckhead.

  • J M Ashby

    Well put, Mr Carl.

  • J M Ashby

    Rick Davis, the new Rove.

  • J M Ashby

What do McPalin supporters really look like?Very educational video here:http://www.crooksandliars.com/silentpatriot/palin-mccain-mob

  • PackyJ

ceu:Jackson Browne is probably my favorite of all time.Sometime I’ll relate the email exchange between me and Meghan Helsel, his publicist.

  • ceu

Mine, too, Packy, but I never listened much to the album “Lives in the Balance”. Yesterday between jobs the title song was on the radio. It could have been written about what’s been going on in this election. They sell us the President the same wayThey sell us our clothes and our carsThey sell us every thing from youth to religionThe same time they sell us our warsThen I saw on Alaska’s blog that today is his birthday. :) BTW, a million years ago, inthe days of the Usenets, the tag line under my sig was “Don’t thnk it won’t happen just because it hasn’t happened yet.”

  • dontpanic23

Ceu: I’m so glad Browne’s gone back to the political stuff. I left him behind in the early 80s when the movement was moving, Reagan was just coming in and Browne’s long-awaited album following his No Nukes concert stuff ended up being a lovefest for his new wife. I had already paid for it and couldn’t return it. I loved his earlier stuff (which was mostly non-political but fantastic) from day one but that was just really bad timing on his part for me.Thanks for the link. The lyrics are good. I’ll look into listening.

  • KatinWilm

Ya know, I’m starting to agree with McSucky on one thing – his estimation of his wife.To imply that her husband doesn’t experience any sort of PTSD because he was “trained,” unlike younger soldiers – is there really anything that can prepare you for that? Perhaps she’s referring to the number of times McNotFly crashed his planes – I suppose that can prepare you for breaking some bones.

  • dontpanic23

LOL Kat, you nailed that one on McCindy.

  • PackyJ

Ceu & Don’tpanic:His new album, “Time the Conquerer” has something to make everyone happy – politics, introspection, and uncategorized. And yes, Ceu, the lyrics of “Lives In The Balance” are just as pertinent today as they were 20 years ago… or a hundred years ago… or, most likely (and sadly), a hundred years from now.Sort of like Dylan’s “Masters of War” or “God on Our Side.”

  • KatinWilm

Thanks DP…perhaps we should start referring to her as McCunt. And how much do I love Sarah Silverman? Almost as much as Rachel Maddow. Not quite as much….but close. She’s pretty damn cool.

  • dontpanic23

Oh MAN Packy, don’t get me started on those 2 by Dylan. Both are classics, eternal. And extremely timely.I just listened to the YouTube link above of Jackson Browne and discovered that I bailed on him 2-3 years too early. That is the album he was supposed to hit us with when we got that bomb in 81 or so. I’m a convert again guys, thanks.

  • dontpanic23

McCunt works just fine, Kat. Normally I don’t use that word but I do make exceptions. It depends on the context and this one is spot on.

  • J M Ashby

I think Rachel dyed her hair a little lighter. Or its just the lightning.

  • dontpanic23

Lightning? What are YOU drinking, JM?

  • J M Ashby

Sorry, I’ve spent all day cleaning and packing preparing to go the Beach next week and my eyes are failing me hahah.Rachel also has some dark circles going on. I think she should lay her head down on my lap and take a nap.

  • Poleezz

Ok Maddow. I’m getting a little sick of hearing about all the voters who are going into the booth and NOT voting for Obama even though they said the WOULD vote for him.See I think it’s much more likely people who say they won’t vote for him will go in the booth and once behind the curtain, they will vote for him.

  • dontpanic23

*beach..drool*I think 97% of the world has a crush on Rachel.

  • dontpanic23

Gross thought: what does Pat Buchanan do behind the curtain when he sees Sixpack Sarah’s name on the ballot?

  • J M Ashby

Jealous DP? You can lay your head on my lap and take a nap if you want.Yes, 11th to 18th in a Condo on the beach outside Tampa, FL.And Poleez – I believe its neither of those options. I chose Option C: People who say they will vote McCain won’t actually even go to the polls that day at all.

  • Poleezz

I could like her more if she didn’t have Pat Puke on her show.

  • Poleezz

    Uhhhhhh…play with himself I guess.

  • Poleezz

Yeah that C option would be nice.

  • KatinWilm

Oh, DP….I just threw up a little in my mouth. That is the most disturbing mental image ever.

  • Poleezz

There are some necks out there that don’t want their neck friends to know that they would vote for a black dude.

  • http://www.clusterdouche.com Elvis Dingeldein

Rachel looks a little worn-out tonight. Not as fresh and perky as usual. Maybe a long red-eye to LA and then trying to prop up that hack Jay Leno has got her sleepy.Mmmmmmm, red-eye.

  • J M Ashby

Actually, it may sound crazy, but I think when Buchanan gets behind the curtain and sees Palin’s name, he will actually vote Obama.

  • ceu

Christmas list item, Packy. There’s too much going on today that is so deeply disturbing that I’m shutting down emotionally, I think. McMealTicket talking about how JSid never suffered from PTSD – just the guys who weren’t trained did – and McIck basically calling on someone who is truly patriotic to get rid of Obama and the Dow dropping another 680 points. [The endowment at the Foundation has lost more than 10%, so we're going to have less money to give in grants to other charities (food banks, literacy, pre-k funding, etc) and scholarships.] And the fucking media is talking about Bill Ayers!! It’s too depressing.

  • J M Ashby

I agree Ceu, but I really do not believe anyone is listening to the Ayers bullcrap other than the lunatics out there. Obama maintaining his current poll numbers proves this.

  • dontpanic23

I answered the door, came back over here and the conversation had degenerated. Okay, degenerated more.

  • J M Ashby

This country is only a decade or two from becoming majority minority.

  • dontpanic23

Option C, JM. And I’ve been around long enough not to fall for that “comfy” option A.I miss the beach oh God I miss the beach. It’s been since June ’05 and that was the sands of St. Andrews in Scotland–yet I live 5 hours from the NC coast and haven’t been since ’04. Damn.

  • http://www.broadwaycarl.blogspot.com Broadway Carl

I hear you, ceu. I’m a little overloaded myself. Been working major overtime so my brain is a little fuzzy. Combine that with all the crap that’s been happening the last couple of days and I’ve just shut down.

  • J M Ashby

I haven’t been on the beach since 1998Actually the week I spent in Las Vegas last October was the first time I went anywhere in a long while. In most cases this wouldn’t be the best time to go on a trip (with the economy and all) but my plane ticket has been paid for since May.

  • dontpanic23

    Enjoy. Beach is special. Peaceful.

  • J M Ashby

Thanks. Im going to take a lot of pictures. Maybe I’ll link to my art gallery when I get back.

  • dontpanic23

Do that, JM.Time to shut down here. It has indeed been a strange day. Thanks for the comic/musical relief while listening to the carnage.

  • J M Ashby

    Goodnight DP.

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Rachel MADE some serious news tonight. Did you guys hear the interview about Tora Bora? Somebody’s got some ‘splainin’ to do about who nixed the authorization to take out Bin Ladin. Maybe Admiral McCain can handle that for us?

  • http://www.clusterdouche.com Elvis Dingeldein

Note to SNL: If you’re going to roll with a half-hour primetime all-politics special? Yeah, hire me to write it.Seriously. You people suck.

  • gallery

I see someone has spoken to howard fineman about his Hair-don’t.At least the skunk looks like it’s SITTING on his head rather than attacking it.

  • ceu

Whoa! Ed Rollins thinks the GOP could lose 10 (ten 10!!) Senate seats! 10 out of 12.Personally, I dislike (intensely!) Ed Rollins – I do not understand why he’s a respected commentator after the crap he pulled! – but if he’s saying 10 seats lost, I’m listening.

  • 24hourjack

i need help…every night i tell myself,im only gonna watch countdown and maddow.yet i cant keep from flipping around to fox.after appx. 30 seconds of hannity,im yelling and spitting at my tv while simultaneously pitying alan colmes.then i get mad at colmes.(rolling stone called him the “washington generals of fox news”).if the show is called hannity AND colmes, why is it that mccain has been on,palin has been on,and now theyve been on together and alan has yet to ask either a single question?anyway, ive just wasted 12 minutes yelling at that violently obnoxious peddler of douchebaggery.i should have been watching rachel.damn fox.its like a sore in my mouth i just cant stop chewing on.
