Daughter (incidently named Jane, Jane) just called. A friend at college is from Toledo and Joe the Plumber is her plumber. (This was breaking news info that she had to share with me ASAP, while walking to a Jonathan Richman concert) So the evidence is that he’s a real plumber. Seriously, who the fuck cares?!

But, considering that McCain chose Mooselini to be his running mate, it would only make sense that they would do an equally stellar job vetting the “October Surprise.”

And Letterman…I remember when he had the Craig Ferguson hour and was a bit more “underground”–this the late 70s maybe. When Carson was about to retire and pick a successor, Letterman was in the running with Leno. I far preferred Letterman’s humor but didn’t want him going so mainstream. I’m just glad he got to still be pretty much himself when he did get the earlier spot with CBS. Now I’m never up late enough to see him…I love Ferguson too. He sounds much like my son-in-law, maybe an Edinburgh accent–NOT Glaswegian which sometimes needs an interpreter–which is so much more fun to listen to than his affected English accent on Drew Carey.
