Pundits Wrong Again

Posted by JumpyPants

Watching John King and the Republican pundits on CNN’s post-debate-extended-AC360-boffo-smash-think-tank-of-best-political-teamness-on-tv, you heard over and over again how Sarah Palin “did what she needed to do,” which was “shore up a wavering base.”

Sorry, guys, but no.

That’s not what all yours and everybody’s polls say. Not at all. Sarah Palin has no problem with the base — sure, some elite Republican strategists and columnists are deeply deeply concerned about her (purely for the reason that she is election cancer). But the base — the people that show up for the rallies and chant “USA, USA!” as if it’s hockey time at the Olympics — those people love her.

Sarah had to shore up the mass exodus of independents, Hillary Dems, and women in general who have been running hard in the opposite direction from the endless stream of lies and meaninglessness that she’s constantly projectile vomiting everywhere.

People who have tanning beds and repeat stock lies over and over again and wink a lot at you don’t seem “presidential”, they seem “car salesman-idential”. And that’s really all she is, a big phony huckster.

And the people that she needed to get tonight, if anything, she drove further away. The snap polls showed it, and they are a harbinger of more blood — watch, and you’ll see.

The same pundits who so desperately kept repeating that McCain won/it was a tie last Friday were, by Monday, proven dead wrong. They will be again. Sarah Palin didn’t do jack.

She was horrible. All she showed was that she doesn’t see much of a difference between being VP and being a mayor and people are sick & tired of having lying clowns who don’t take responsibility for their actions in charge. The country has serious problems and all the GOPers are talking about is her energy & her smile & how she’s a “breath of fresh air”. Unfortunately for them, the air is reeking of skunk.

If she winks at me one more time, I swear I’m going to poke her eye out with a stick.Oh, look out, here comes the Secret Service…

Mr. Pants,You are so, so right! It’s just ridiculous that anyone could watch that and say she did even remotely well ………….. it’s just bull shit! She comes off as emotionless, scripted, and downright stupid!

  • kansasdem

And if I hear new-cyu-lar one more time I’m going to hang myself with an enema hose!

Well, the GOPers have been doing their best to lower expectations over the week(s) leading up to this debate, and apparently it worked with many of the BBQ set.To me she came off as a clueless, spiteful, bitch.

It really is stunning to watch the BBQ pit bend over backwards to give her the edge–Biden kicked her but all over the place–scored points against McCain left and right. She did not answer one question with any detail–not one. It was jaw dropping–plus she painted herself in a corner on civil unions, was wrong about Afghanistan commander and his quote–I heard Anderson Cooper basically goading the McCain camp into using Rev Wright–unbelievable–but exactly what I expected. mmmmm BBQ. Bottom line is even the best right BBQ framing gives it a push–and that is a win for Obama–didn’t move the needle at all–and I suspect that just as the media called it a push last week (despite all the debate polls) we will see the polls move in the states further in Obama’s direction. The question remains, will the BBQ media continue to cover her as propaganda when it is clear they will be shut out until the election?

It’s actually quite laughable that the right wing continues to assert that the news media is “in the tank” for Obama, considering the amount of spin time they’re putting in trying to make these debates seem close (close race = ratings). The polls proved you correct (and the BBQ media wrong) on the last debate – here’s hoping they prove you correct on this one as well.

Good God this says it all:”…And that’s really all she is, a big phony huckster.”

I would support a Constitutional Amendment forcing any would-be candidate for public office to warrant that they have read the Constitution and Bill of Rights prior to receiving any federal funds or recognition. You would think basic sensibilities would apply here but it’s obvious that there are candidates out there who have no idea what they have/would be swearing to when they take the oath of office.I’d also like to see a Constitutional debate, where the candidates have to take a position on how they interpret sections of the Constitution.
