Republican Arne Carlson…

…the former governor of Minnesota obviously endorsed Senator Obama because Arne Carlson is black.

Wait — huh? You don’t say.

Arne Carlson is white?

Dammit. You mean, Rush Limbaugh and Michelle Malkin and Pat Buchanan lied to us? You mean, it’s not totally about race? You mean, it’s entirely possible — “accurate” if you will — that Colin Powell and these other Republicans endorsed Senator Obama because he’ll simply be a better president? Amazing.

I keep checking my own skin color several times a day…I must be a black woman trapped in a white woman’s body.

The Goldwater family…Republicans from Arizona…now endorse Obama. This is a hell of a thing for older white republicans to hear and see.http://www.huffingtonpost.com/cc-goldwater/why-mccain-has-lost-our-v_b_137150.html#postComment

O/T – on MSNBC just now, Norah O’Donnell said (at the end of a story I wasn’t paying attention to) “Wells Fargo employees will be manning the polls in a corporate sponsership deal”. I didn’t mishear it – there were two other people who couldn’t believe they’d heard it either. Corporate sponsorship of the election?? WTF? Did anyone else hear this?

No offence intended, but perhaps the point has been made? There’s a subtle diference between hammering a point home, and feeding a point into the wood chipper.

  • Bob_Cesca

    >>No offence intended, but perhaps the point has been made? Not everyone reads the blog everyday, Matthew. And the Limbaughs of the world are continuing to hammer this “all about race” accusation. Backing away from a strong point (out of deference or boredom or whatever else) is why we’ve lost too many elections. Cheers!

    @CEU: Yep. Found this:

OC deal for Wells Fargo poll worker sponsorshipThe Associated PressArticle Launched: 10/23/2008 09:09:23 AM PDTSANTA ANA, Calif.—The Orange County registrar is expanding its pool of election workers and polling sites with a corporate sponsorship deal of sorts with Wells Fargo. The bank is providing employees as poll workers on Nov. 4 and vote-by-mail paperwork is available at Orange County branches of Wells Fargo, which can use the Orange County seal on its literature and Web site.Banks can be used as polling sites in future elections.Registrar Neal Kelley says there will be no corporate branding at polling locations and voters won’t be seeing Wells Fargo advertising in voting booths. No money is being exchanged.Kelley says polling locations are “a sanctuary of sorts” and voters will have no idea that volunteers are affiliated with Wells Fargo.———

MatthewN, I gotta respectfully disagree:This shit is hilarious: Every. Damn. Time. Nothing makes me laugh more than seeing White (WHITE!) Republicans defy conventional wisdom and jump ship to keep Susie MooseShot out of the Oval Office. Also, anything that deflates the Viagra-induced rantings of Rush Limbaugh is the goddamn antidote in my book.Keep truckin’, Bob.

Bob said “Not everyone reads the blog everyday, Matthew. “Is this true?? I have not been able to keep myself away from this GDAB since Day One!

Okay, okay… heh, looks like I’ve been over-ruled

I’m in FAVOR of the banks getting involved with voting. Let’s write some software for ATMs, which are far more stable than the ESS craptastik voting machines in use now. They also provide a receipt, and I suppose if people chose to allow it, they could have their voting record forwarded to their bank record…complete with PIN based-encryption. You could then go home and validate your votes were recorded accurately. If every branch reported vote tallies, and each Bank reported tallies independently (you don’t have to vote at your bank’s ATM) there would be an inherent cross-check that would inhibit the ability to invisibly hack the data.Hey, we OWN these banks now, right? Let’s leverage the investment people!!

With due regard to MatthewN, I agree with Bob: one of the reasons why the wingnuts win “arguments” is that they just keep repeating asinine falsehoods until rational people get tired of fighting them. It takes so much energy to fight them that we just get tired of it. Bob is using humor to deal with bad old Rush Loudbarrel, which makes sense to me. The man is a walking self-parody — Rush, that is, not Bob.And a certain oracle of the free market, according the NYT, just said he “made a mistake” in trusting an under-regulated market so much. On the wonders of all this, I can’t do better than Shakespeare’s The Tempest:SEBASTIAN.Now I will believe / That there are unicorns; that in Arabia / There is one tree, the phoenix’ throne, one phoenix / At this hour reigning there.ANTONIO.I’ll believe both; / And what does else want credit, come to me, / And I’ll be sworn ’tis true; travellers ne’er did lie, / Though fools at home condemn ‘em.

Wow, now there was an ironic unintended juxtaposition of quotations!

A little OT comment about P. Buchanan. I hate to watch R. Maddow’s show when he’s on which seems to be just about every night. I’m beginning to think it’s in her contract to have him on and he seems to think it’s his show and takes over and she pretty much let’s him. I don’t get it?? At least he seems to have stopped calling Palin “sister Sarah”. Someone probably told him that sounds too fundie.

This just in –”Ghost of Ronald Reagan Endorses Barack Obama.”Okay, so I made the title up. Please just imagine it being followed by a full Onion Press-style workup, with appropriately Reaganesque fake quotations and some expert commentary by political analysts like David Gergen thrown in for good measure…. I’m too lazy to write it myself. But another reminder is in order: it ain’t over till it’s over. Vote early, give what you can, do what you can.

No offense intended, but FUCK NO, MatthewN. If Rush Limbaugh wants to have this kind of party, Bob’s going to stick his dick in the mashed potatoes.I will never, ever get sick of posts like this. Bob, please keep it up.
