Sit Down, Boy.

UPDATE: The “sit down, boy” Palin supporter also apparently called the African American camera man an “uppity negro.”

Good article about the real Maverick’s – they don’t like their name being used…http://www.huffingtonpost.com/charles-karel-bouley/mccainpalin-no-mavericks_b_132664.html

  • MatthewN

What amazes me most is the vitriol and bile loosed against the media in these rallys.McCain managed to take his biggest asset (media darling status) and turn it into one of his biggest liabilities.

  • Poleezz

    Perfect. Simply Perfect.

  • JG

My question is why is Palin able to be shown on TV ad nauseum spewing vile, divisive, hatred while shutting the press out completely–and inciting hatred towards the press. All the while NOT having any of her record or associations questioned. This is unbelievable…

  • MatthewN

The press is literally doing her job for her.Dumb MSM sheep

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

They call it the Corporate media for a reason. Take a moment and think what the landscape of this election would have been like without the direct democracy of sites such as St. Bob of the Awesome. There are millions of voters out there that feed on the corp media swill as their sole source of info.We either need to change the content these guys broadcast, or we need to melt them down and rebuild the public airwaves.

  • JG

It’s basically an all out attack on Obama on the Ayers nonsense by Palin and the BBQ media. Tweety keeps mentioning it every 5 seconds, with the disclaimer, “whatever that is”–well, Tweety you fucking TOOL, if it’s so thin, and you can’t even describe what the Ayers NON-story is, why are you mentioning it every 5 seconds–Hopefully the American people are smarter than this, but if this Ayers drumbeat keeps up, it will have an effect–it always does. Also, the entire framing of the race is “what can John McCain do to get back in the race?” This suggests a real desire on their part–

  • MatthewN

BTW… best quote of the day:Cindy McCainBarack Obama has “waged the dirtiest campaign in American history,”Um…

  • MatthewN

JG, I don’t think the Ayers thing will matter in the long run. It may make the election closer than it would have been otherwise, but it’ll take more than that to knock Obama out of the top slot come election day.

  • Poleezz

It’s all about the ratings folks. It’s all about the ratings. We oft forget that do we not?

  • JG

I know Matthew–I just get concerned–the few times McCain surged in the polls was when they were able to distract and manipulate the media–Paris Hilton, naming Palin, lipstick on a pig…As Bob said, I wish the election was today–The thing that upsets and angers me so much is they keep beating it to death–as well as showing clips of Palin–unanswered and unquestioned–she’s a rock star! Even Chick Todd said last hour she goes negative in such a likable way.

  • MatthewN

I live in constant fear that something big and unexpected will happen between now and and Nov 4th. We’ve almost got this in the bag, and it could all melt away like sugar in the rain.My rational mind says “Chill… he’s got this.”, but I just can’t let myself believe it. Things have been too bad for too long, I guess.

  • gallery

The only thing that would make this even better would be Rick Santorum in a Gimp suit standing right next to her.

  • grcratty

Meanwhile, has anyone seen this?http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDofbll86dYI’m ashamed to say that as an informed citizen this is the first I’ve heard of McCain’s ties to the S&L weasels. So this is the guy who is bringing change to Washington, eh? McMaverick shows his true colors.

  • JG

Matthew–I think there is a part in all of us that echo what you just said–What is upsetting is that our BBQ media has enabled this hatred and divisiveness–they assist in it and reward it–Obama will do this–we keep having to remind ourselves–he will do this–when I get like this, I just send some more money to barackobama.com–haven’t maxed out yet…

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

No offense to the more refined among us, but Chuck Todd has been Jerkin’ off to various images of Palin splayed out on is “interactive” coffee table for weeks.Obama could do himself well to set up another Dish network channel and post up vids of Obama chicks going topless etc. If these idiots need to get their rocks off in order to start thinking with their big heads, I know PLENTY of women that would volunteer to help the cause!!

  • MatthewN

So any bets on the debate tonight? Will it go sedately, due to the restrictive format, or will be see an all out free-for-all?

  • JG

Fucking Stretch:Interviews Mccain Advisor: Focus on AyersInterviews Obama Advisor: Focus on Ayers

  • MatthewN

I suppose I should have said:i’m betting free-for-all.Neither of them is very good at staying on topic if they feel they’ve been impugned.

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Could we maybe have judges, like at the Olympics?http://thinkprogress.org/2008/10/07/palin-protect-entitlements/It seems to me we need some sort of realtime bullsh!t filter for whenever Politicians speak to crowds or on air. Could we maybe assign judging panels to follow them? Randomly selected knowledgeable public representatives that collectively score the statements. The results get posted on a scoreboard or on screen just following the statement. Discount the highest & lowest scores, etc. Think about it.

  • JG

Live Free–we have had judges on the past two debates: THE AMERICAN FUCKING PEOPLE. Every major poll gave landslide margins to Obama and Biden, but the BBQ media swept them aside.here’s basically how the BBQ media will judge:A Tie=McCain WinsObama Wins=Tie

  • JG

more equivalency from Stretch–”attacks fly back and forth…” Huh? What are the attacks coming from Obama? The Keating 5?

  • ceu

Prediction that McCain will take credit for the Bailout Bill and will say that Obama will raise taxes on everyone and that he’s a mavrick deregulator. And do the the format, Obama will not be able to respond, but will instead talk about policy, which Buchanan will later say was boring and he’s the most liberal Senator in Washington…

  • http://www.clusterdouche.com Elvis Dingeldein

Honestly, y’all, I’m having trouble shaking this 1968-All-Over-Again feeling. I just finished reading The Last Campaign, about the 82 days of Bobby Kennedy’s run for the White House, and I continue to be amazed that the country didn’t eat itself alive after he was killed. Reading The Last Campaign, I think the country was simply mirroring Bobby’s own gentle temperament: He knew he would be killed. Period. He knew it. His press corps knew it. The country, I think, knew it. Exhausted from the chaos following Dr. King’s assassination, the country had simply given up hope that Bobby could make it through the end stretch. A campaign of true Change, then, was oddly hopeless in its bones. We’re hip-deep in the polar opposite now: Hope drives us, motivates us, surrounds us and binds us together, and yet the real Change in a historical context would be Senator Obama not being assassinated before he could win. McCain and Palin are screaming into America’s last true abyss now, and gleefully so. I’m truly, deeply frightened now.

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Yea, I get that. What makes me nuts is that they can and do say ANYTHING and f*ckwads in the crowd believe it cause they’re lemmings. I’d like some accountability that says, in real-time, “HEY! SHE’S LYING TO YOU!!!! WAKE-UP NIMROD!!!!” or “YO DUMBASS, THIS IS THE TRUTH!!!” It’s pathetically sad that people can’t think for themselves, but here we are.

  • Poleezz

Watch the debate on C-Span. Do not watch follow-up BBQ. Blog on your favaorite sites to keep your spirits up. Volunteer to go to work for the BO campaign. This is your therapy. Seriously folks, what the fuck else can you do? If we all shake in our boots fearful of what might happen, they have already won in many respects.

  • ceu

Watch the follow-up on BBC. That will keep you happy. :)

  • http://www.clusterdouche.com Elvis Dingeldein

I’m already doing all that, Poleezz. I became an Elected Official at my state convention, have become a community organizer in support of Senator Obama, and have donated every penny I can to his campaign. I wear t-shirts and buttons in openly hostile Republican nests just to get conversations going, and stood 20 feet from Palin on Sunday night just to see if any of her Joe-Six Pack Juice would wear off on me (it didn’t). I’m doing everything I can. But I still can’t shake this ’68 feeling.

  • MakeitStop

Where’s Huckabee? Isn’t he usually somewhat a voice of reason when the wingnuts go off the deep end?

  • gyutty

The Media is complicit in this. They should be boycotting her since she does not answer questions. Not even ONE press conference!UN-FREAKING-BELIEVABLE.GOP = NSDAP

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

“Joe-Six-Pack Juice” I don’t think that’s something that wears off her. Maybe somethin’ she’s swallowin’, more likely, you betchcha’!

  • MatthewN

Im watching MSNBC and I’m just livid. These people are making me want to kick something.

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Hey look! It’s a picture of Palin’s great grampa when he was a boy!http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/27071717/displaymode/1168/rstry/27072238/rpage/1/

  • JG

Colin Powell where are you? I think a forceful endorsement from Powell could be a mini-October surprise.Granted he was complicit in the march to war–but he could really redeem himself here, and the BBQ media would eat it up.

  • J M Ashby

David Gregory is such a puke,

  • MatthewN

I hear Buchanan talk about how people aren’t yet convinced about Obama, then I go to fivethirtyeight.com and wonder…. what the hell is he talking about?

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Yep. I’d support that. And Powell could speak authoritatively to cease this covert racist campaigning, and he would sit for interviews, which would take Six-Pack Sarah off my f*ckin’ screen, and if he would do that for me I would be willing to forgive any sin!

  • incredulous72

Hi Folks,This is my first time leaving a message (although I’ve been coming to the blog for almost 2 months now) and I just wanted to say how great it is to have a site like this. We get angry and belligerent at the crap that Mcspleen and his cohort have been spewing (and will continue to until Obama is announced POTUS on November 4th), but that’s because we have brains and we use them. However, all of this hate and fear that they’re spreading around is just that; their hate and their fear because they realize theY don’t have a chance in hell of winning this election. So let’s take a page from our new President and remain calm and composed because we know what’s at stake and THEY WILL NOT WIN.By the way, Elvis … your the best!

  • J M Ashby

Buchanan is talking about the lunatic fringe with an IQ barely above being declared mentally handicapped.

  • http://livefreeordie08.wordpress.com LiveFreeOrDie08

Buchanan is the Baghdad Bob of the Conservative movement. He’ll deny defeat until David Axelrod comes on set and pulls the microphone off his 1950′s Segregationist’s Club Jacket lapel.

  • ceu

You’re a community organizer, Elvis? Just when I had this growing, grudging respect for you…. :D It doesn’t feel the same as ’68. The biggest difference is that while the country is divided now as it was then, the current administration’s approval ratings are so low that the divide is more lopsided. It’s not a divide between the young & the old (the generation gap, as it was known); it’s not between pro & anti war (we didn’t know then how horrible the Vietnam War would become; we already know how bad the Iraq War is). This is a divide between hope & fear – between the haves, the-used-to-haves, the have-nots – and the used-to-haves are a lot more pissed off than the have-nots. We haven’t had riots in the streets, thank heavens. People are upset & angry, but they’re not calling for the system being destroyed. They’re calling for changing it.I agree about the possibility of someone trying to assassinate Obama, though that’s been a possibility for a long while now. That’s an awful feeling and pray God it doesn’t happen…

  • JG

Funny how after months of hearing the BBQ media extol McCain’s “town hall” prowess that it is quite muted today–hmmmm. What about the “expectations” game that they love to use to benefit Republican candidates. I guess raised expectations doesn’t help McCain so maybe that’s why they are pretty much mum on this–

  • J M Ashby

If I had the money to donate to Obama, I would. I currently fit into the group of people Obama refers to when he talks about people worrying about their bills. My whole family, immediate and extended, fit into this group also.If I disregard everything about McCain and Obama accept for their stances on how to turn the economy around, its a clear choice. McCain’s track record and ignorance concerning the economy is freightning. I don’t think Obama is an economic genius(although light-years ahead of McCain), but I do believe he has the right ideas and his heart is in the right place.

  • JG

touching on what Elvis and ceu are saying–this is what is so upsetting about Palin’s words–she is inciting hatred and anger–and our media is rewarding it–do they not realize how dangerous this is?Even the media is being threatened and shouted down at these rallies–do they not understand how dangerous her words are? Mob mentality is a very powerful psychological principal, and our media is enabling and rewarding this behavior–

  • Poleezz

WOW well it sounds like the “fear juice” got to you. Be careful running in those wolf packs! BTW were you around in “68″? Just asking…

  • Poleezz

Yeah JG, it seems like both of the nutballs were trying to incite the crowd asking leading questions and blanks to be “filled in”. Disgusting crap!

  • ceu

I was, yes, Pole. And, no, JG, they apparently don’t understand how dangerous it is to not clearly denounce anyone yelling “treason” or “kill ‘em”. It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain, but they’re just thinking of the sound bites…

  • drec1500 madrid

CEU said “And, no, JG, they apparently don’t understand how dangerous it is to not clearly denounce anyone yelling “treason” or “kill ‘em”. It’s obvious to anyone with half a brain, but they’re just thinking of the sound bites…”I think they know exactly how dangerous this is. Just like the top investment bankers knew exactly what they were doing when they created the current financial meltdown.I know it is horrible to say but I’m so cynical at this point that I don’t believe The Media would mind if some bad things happened…more revenue you know….
