Ten Grand for Obama

So the Republicans are suddenly really into the idea of tinfoil hats even though in 2004 and 2000 they mostly laughed at our claims of actual voter fraud — as opposed to the random fake voter registrations for fictional people who haven’t and simply can’t vote in the election.

It’s become clear, however, that even though Senator Obama is doing very well on the fundraising front, he’ll need every penny in order to potentially contest any real shenanigans on election day — real vote tampering, not jokey voter registration forms that have nothing to do with fraudulent votes.

Republicans are presently attempting to disenfranchise hundreds of thousands of registered voters in crucial battleground states. Shocker — most of those voters are newly registered Democrats. In addition, we still have way too many electronic voting machines without paper trails, and a provisional ballot system that’s largely a joke.

That’s one of many reasons why I’ve upped our GDAB fundraising goal to $10,000. The deadline: 12AM EDT, November 4, 2008.

Eighteen days. Reasonable donations of $5 and $10. This thing isn’t over until we help Senators Obama and Biden achieve tamper-proof margins on election night. Let’s go!

UPDATE: Bumped.

Good idea, Bob. Any way you could make this a semi-permanent entry at the top so that it’s prominent for every new / repeat visitor? Just a thought.

  • cminri

I’m pretty much tapped out Bob, but I’ll throw in a few bucks when I can. And just a word on the voter fraud issue…I think maybe we need to stress that Obama needs to win by the “L” word so even if they try to claim fraud – the margin will be so big…their claims wont hold water.

Whew, that will give me time to mug a few more racist assholes in Walmart not hanging on tightly to their wallets. *joke!* (wish I didn’t have to add that but these days everything is listened to by someone).Seriously, this is great, and I’ll donate as I see how each week ends up between now and then. First I’ll cut out milk for my son. He’s twenty, ferchristsake, and still laid off with no prospects yet. He’ll be cranky but he’ll live.

  • dontpanic23

Oh Bob, since it will go on for a while, can you pin the widget off to the side at all times or something like that? We can also see the amount easily as it changes.

Thanks for extending the deadline. I want to contribute, but at present, I’m fearing homelessness. :( Hopefully before I get kicked out of my apartment I find two nickels to rub together… one for Barack, one for my rent.QT

Hey guys – in addition to contributing money, looks like Pollworkers for Democracy has info about signing up to become a pollworker in your respective county on Nov. 4, and about partnering (in some states) with local orgs there to answer voter questions at polling locations, report incidences of voter suppression, etc. I’m going to check into it…https://secure.pfaw.org/site/SPageServer?pagename=signup_election

Maybe we need to have a fund drive for some of the Cescateers. Sounds like a lot of us are on the same Titanic.

@PecosHoly cats that video makes a powerful statement. I wonder where/how she managed to get footage of funerals – thought that was classified these days.Do you know if she’s donating proceeds to Obama and/or charity? I’d like to support this work, but feel a bit conflicted about supporting a for profit venture with images like these. I hope it’s a 100% charity situation.

  • Alan4s

Wow, that’s a very moving video.

Okay, I put another $25 in the pot, and I did it with my AMEX, which means I actually have to pay it out of pocket instead of letting it slide on a credit card I’ll never pay off. But that’s it, I’m dry.I’d put one of these up on Clusterdouche! but I don’t want to embarrass myself or my three regular fans. Or Senator Obama. Very, very embarrassing.

  • Pecos Bill

@LFOD-Don’t know anything about it yet. Got in email from a friend..I’m a tough guy but…Tugged at some emotions…

Hey Elvis, I feel the same way. Maybe we can make our goal something like eight bucks. AHAHAHAHA!!!

  • http://www.clusterdouche.com Elvis Dingeldein

That’d be pretty funny, actually. Do they let you set the bar that low?

  • CycloCynic

I’d put one up at Clusterdouche, Elvis. You never know!

  • dontpanic23

I think Leeroy has a point on that Titanic thing.
