That’s not satire. That’s an actual “food stamp” graphic from a Republican group’s newsletter. The creator of the graphic said:

“I didn’t see it the way that it’s being taken. I never connected,” she said. “It was just food to me. It didn’t mean anything else.”

“It was just food to me,” she said. Uh-huh. You wanna try that again?

So… errmm… Limbaugh? What were you saying earlier? You flaccid peawit.

Let the full-on racism loose! They’ve got NOTHING ELSE LEFT!!

  • Groobiecat

Okay, you win, Bob. That totally trumps my “Joe the Racist Plumber” comment…

  • http://poopandpolitics.blogspot.com/ MCat

wow I don’t even know what to say to that

Here’s something that will mess with your mind on several levels. Just saw this on Oliver’s blog:http://www.oliverwillis.com/2008/10/16/racial-hate-in-full-bloom-at-palin-rally-in-ohio/1. It’s astounding to me that there are SO MANY astonishingly stupid (not a diss here – really stupid) people there are in the US.2. This is one of the most level-headed even-handed reports I’ve witnessed on the subject, and it came via Al Jazeera. (Whaat??!)3. The guy reporting was named Kaufmann…working for Al Jazeera, reporting on racisim in the US. (Whaaaat??!)4. The white folks in this video claim to not want to vote for a black man for fear of being oppressed. Oppressed. White people are worried about being oppressed. (WHAAAAAAAAAT???!!!?!?)

  • skywriter1

@LFOD08:Ugh. That video depressed me. An insightful and damning look inside some of the minds of the republican party.TOTALLY O/T, but I stumbled across a right wing blog that had some pretty interesting info on the infamous Joe the Plumber:http://www.eisenstadtgroup.com/2008/10/15/joe-the-plumber-wurzelbacher-related-to-charles-keating-oops/

  • bibimimi

Dennis: Come and see the violence inherent in the system. Help! Help! I’m being repressed!King Arthur: Bloody peasant!Dennis: Oh, what a giveaway! Did you hear that? Did you hear that, eh? That’s what I’m on about! Did you see him repressing me? You saw him, Didn’t you?

  • Groobiecat

See, here’s the thing, LOFD: white privilege means never having to say: you’re sorry, you’re privileged, you’re racist, or you’re incredibly, indelibly stupid.I have been having a back and forth argument with a friend who says “Well, hey, you know, the fact that Barack is running for president, well, that’s pretty good, right? We’re making progress, right?”I think the answer is that some of us are making progress, while a sizable minority are aggressively (goose) stepping backwards. I used to think it was largely driven by lack of education, but now I think it mainly has to do with a combination of fear and a lack of education…

  • LeeroyJenkins

That is absolutely disgusting. I’m ashamed that the people who made this and are spreading it, and Rush Limbaugh, are from the United States.

  • rixxk

Throw in Joe the ex-plumber and Katie Couric laughing it up about Obama as a tap dancing Sammy Davis Jr and you have the T in PA.

  • http://jennydemilo.blogspot.com JennyDemilo

that Couric giggle at the end of that interview pissed me the hell off. yeah lets compare the next POUTS to someone shuffling off to buffalo. Yanno Sammy couldnt enter the casinos though the front door with the rest of the rat pack, so lovely to see so many peoples racisit thinking hasnt changed one bit from those bygone days.Grrrrrrr!

  • solrac2002

Lol..Just pull anything out your ass when your losing..

There is a sickness in this country and touches all families.I have been trading heart breaking emails with my beautiful accomplished biracial niece about this very food stamp “supposed” harmless joke via e-mail.My own brother is the one who sent that e-mail out …and when asked to try and understand how hurtful it was, proceeded to act just like John McCain, like he was somehow the injured party for being criticized for sending this crap out.I know that if we elect Obama, it will be the first step forward to changing how ugly and polarized things have become.

  • dontpanic23

Here’s an interesting one on Joe Plumberhttp://obsprimary.blogspot.com/2008/10/joe-plumber-update.html

  • dontpanic23

And as for the “buck” above–I believe she chose random food groups like I believe George W. pulled a real military stint. Stupid racist assholes.

  • Alan4s

In the debate last night, McCain again said, “No one cares about a washed up old terrorist, but Senator Obama must come clean about this issue.”If no one cares, then why must he come clean (as if he hadn’t).So, Senator McCain, my question to you: No one cares that you wear womens underwear and jack boots while stomping on kittens heads, but it’s important that you tell us why someone would ever want to do such a thing. Will you please just address this important national security issue? Thank you Senator.

Does anyone know if Joe approached Obama in the neighborhood, or was it vice versa? If Obama plucked this guy from obscurity as a result of being in his neighborhood, he should maybe consider helping the guy out. Seems like bad karma to lust leave him to the MSM vulchers, but then again, it’s not Obama’s fault that the guy never bothered to get licensed, etc.

  • Groobiecat

Mmmm, LFOD, I don’t think so: the guy’s clueless, and clearly baited Obama (not planning to buy the business; doesn’t even know–or care, apparently–that he’d probably get a tax cut under Obama, not an increase). He’s also a jingoistic schmuck (he’s glad we’re in Iraq!) and a racist (“You know, I’ve always wanted to ask one of these guys a question and really corner them and get them to answer a question,” he said, “for once instead of tap dancing around it, and unfortunately I asked the question, but I still got a tap dance.” He added, “Almost as good as Sammy Davis.”)He’s the only thing McCain will be remembered for in this campaign. The only thing he offered of merit is that he didn’t disclose who he’s voting for. The sooner Joe Blow is discredited and forgotten, the better.

What a coward. They’re all cowards unless they’re in a room full of kindred coward spirits. She probably laughed and laughed as she was making it, now wants to pretend she had no idea. ‘Cause you know, every time I start a conversation I somehow manage to accidentally insert four racist visuals together in one conversation that just so happens to apply to whatever minority is sitting at the table with me. I don’t know how such a statistically impossible thing happens, but I assure you it’s just an accident.Big. Fat. Coward.

  • Pecos Bill

@LFOD-I’ll try and explain this to the non-black folks…If you had done the things, Let’s see…-Taken families from their homes and country-Being packed like sardines, shipped to another land, only to be renamed, beaten, and tortured your entire life.-Families literally broken up never to see again-The women raped and sodomized (maybe men too!)-AND, TOO many other atrocities to be listed here. And ALL the antagonist seemed to have WHITE faces?!-Knowing how an entire race was mis-treated for over THREE HUNDRED(!) years??-Knowing that they (africans) are genetically SUPERIOR to your race (and intellectually too!), all of a sudden being able to wrest the whip from ‘massa’??!That’s the RACISTS’ greatest fear!-How do you think ‘massa’ gonna react? Those are the reactions you’re seein’ at these rallies. What they DON’T know is, black people are the most forgiving peoples on earth!!BTW,Did I forget to mention, ALL of us descended from the African people???!Any immunologist out there can verify what I’m saying is factual!

  • Groobiecat

My God, what would happen if an American Indian were running for President??

  • http://swashzone.blogspot.com/ Allosaurus

Well, the “racist buck” is pretty sorry, I must say. As for some of the newest-latest from the Hate-Talk Express (I wish I’d made that phrase up, but I can always pretend, right?) — I mean the robocalls warning us about alleged deep affinities between Ayers and Obama — put case that the only way to fight this ridiculous shit is with humor. I mean, Democrats can get outraged and demand apologies, but such behavior will only be taken as a sign that we are afraid of the calls’ potential impact. I suggest that the Obama higher-ups in the campaign should actually CALL ATTENTION to them in a mocking, “can you believe this stuff? What next?” way. And they should be hardly able to hold back a good belly laugh when they do it, too. Make it out to be the desperation-circus act it is: I want my robocall! Why haven’t I received my robocall yet? Aren’t I good enough? My point is that McCain has either badly misread the national mood or he’s just trying to make sure the wingnuts turn out and help him crack 40% or 45% and hold on to some down-ticket seats.

  • violadefacto

    Sickening.

  • yelorose

I think Joe the not a plumber was a plant. Keith O. said on his show tonight that Joe had been on right wing radio shows before the debate.I wondered immediately after McNasty mentioned him the first time last night how he knew about him. It’s not like that rope line made national news. Also, could be there were Repug spies. Seems smart for both campaigns to have them to keep up with what the other guy’s doing, although O’Bama doesn’t seem that paranoid but Johnny Mc sure does.Keith O. said he only makes $40,000 or so and the so called biz he wants to buy only makes $100,000 or so.Also heard or read somewhere today that he’s not even registered to vote.Way too many things wrong with this story.

  • CupcakeCult

Yeah, when I think of “random food” the first thing that comes to mind is fried chicken and watermelon! I wish people were like Pinnochio and their noses would grow when they lie. To us this is obvious but some people probably buy it.
