Violence Mongering

I find this to be a terrifying possibility as well. Someone posted a link to a video of people leaving a Palin rally that was truly scary. I can only imagine what is simmering just below the surface in teh psyche of some of the people that listen to this shit uncritically.The facts that the media AND the campaign are not repudiating this behavior is even more alarming. And if it were the other way ’round…?

You know who could step forward and shut this down with some credibility is Bush 41. He could shut-up McCain, dismiss Palin, admonish his son, and demand a lowering of the political temperature. He can do this by citing learning from his own past mistakes regarding the LA riots.The RNC needs to repudiate this, as do all the Republican Lieutenants and past nominees.

Well, there is some good news, it appears that Palin’s too stupid to realize what she’s doing and Christopher Buckley just threw down some Obama lovin.

They know exactly what they’re doing, although they’re not smart enough to hatch the plan. But once they saw the hate and racism rising, they liked it and stoked it.If something happens to Obama as a result, they’ll say “Oops! Tee hee. Didn’t mean for THAT to happen.”

The problem is the TV coverage–our television media, in particular cable news, is inciting this. Their coverage is literally pouring gasoline on the situation. Do they not realize this hate is also pointed at the media?-someone is going to get hurt.I am sick about this–McCain is tearing the country apart, and trying to either win by a hair (by dividing the electorate the way Bush did), or de-legitimize an Obama presidency which is the last thing we need in these times.The media has a choice: They either need to continue to cover the hate and “association” narrative and also POUND AWAY at McCain’s Palin’s “associations”–or they need to this stop this BULLSHIT all together. They need stop this one way or another–if they at least POUNDED away at McCain Palin’s associations, it would stop. But since MP know they can get away with it, they continue.

JG, I agree. I got so mad this morning when Fox and MSNBC kept showing McCain’s attack ad while “discussing” it. They’d already shown it on Morning Joe earlier and when a new guest came on, Joe said “Have you seen the ad? well anyway, roll it!” So they played it AGAIN.

I could not agree more, Bob. And I feel this kind of incitement to violence should be held even more responsible than the right wing nut job who might try something. The McCain/Palin campaign knows exactly what they are doing and are leaving their dirty work to the hordes chanting “Heil McCain!”

This is unbelievable. I’m absolutely amazed that anyone – even the republicans who thrive on fears and smears – would let this continue. I know this sounds ludicrous, but I was almost hoping for a Klan or skin head appearance at the last debate. Just for Obama to be able to say, “Look what you started you old fool.”This has gone too far, but for them to admit they were wrong is asking a lot. How can anyone stand behind this?

Whatever has a point. Philip Berg did, indeed, file a lawsuit against Obama and the DNC seeking to get a restraining order to prevent the Democratic Convention from nominating Obama for president. As we all know he WAS nominated – therefore the Berg suit is meaningless.And, Whatever, just so ya know…just because one person sues another, the defendant isn’t automatically guilty. I could file suit against you right now for…I don’t know…intentional infliction of emotional distress or assault & battery or trespassing. And people all over the world could google your name and use the suit that pops up as “proof” that you’re not such a pleasant fellow. See how that works? Accepting what is alleged in a suit as proof of wrongdoing…Now, shoo…get back over there.
