A Theory

I’m wondering if the decision to keep Bob Gates at the Pentagon was clinched by the Russian military exercises off the coast of Venezuela. Perhaps some political language to Putin and Medvedev that there is, in fact, someone keeping an eye on military situations, rather than packing their crap into boxes.

Adding… Just to clarify, the Russians are deliberately toying with us, knowing we’re in transition. Having Pentagon continuity sends a signal that we’re paying attention and not calling U-Haul.

Adding also such as… Not a fan of this choice. But I can see the wisdom in maintaining some military continuity while everyone appears to be focused on other issues.

To you also such as also: I’m a nose-holder on this too. I do see why he feels it necessary and it does make a statement to anyone planning evil-doings. But it is stinky on the change front.

Yeah I’m not wild about it, but I get it. Can’t do everything at once. Also Sarah Palin had better get back Alaska before Putin rears his head and such as.And also, I was watching A View to a Kill on demand the other day (Hey, I’ve been sick and I’d already watched Muppets from Space). In the opening, Roger Moore escapes the Russians in his babe-piloted submarine disguised as an iceburg, and he says it’s 5 days to Alaska. All I could think is, what the hell kind of prescription does Sarah Palin have in those glasses? And also.
