Thanks for the link You know – this picture is very poignant: http://flickr.com/photos/barackobamadotcom/3008255125/in/set-72157608716313371/In it, he’s watching McCain’s acceptance speech. He must have felt such overwhelming emotion – having won the election, having lost his grandmother the day before, having his opponent give such a gracious speech, and having the audience outright booing at the idea of him being president.QT

QT, that was the most striking one. It feels so wonderful having a normal, smart family with little kids in the WH–it’s just been so long. And this may be a complete first, having a couple without at least one of them being part of a wealthy or powerful (or both) family. The Clintons weren’t far behind the Obamas but Hillary did come from money to some extent. The Obamas are the Real America, dammit!
The Colonel
That might be the most low key celebration I’ve ever seen. Maybe it’s because he realizes the difficulty of the job ahead.

It was, Colonel, and I wondered if they edited out the ones that would resemble 53% of the country and 95% of the world–crying and jumping–but I doubt they reacted that way very much. Things were/are too serious and he had also just lost his Toot without really having time to properly mourn. He looks exhausted, mentally and physically, but still ready to get it done.
JG
in anticipation of this conference I predict 90% of the questions will come from this BBQ narrative:”he can’t do what he wants to do in this crisis”"what will you tell us you can’t do?
