How Did I Miss This?

From Amato a few days ago. Here’s the once and future leader of the Republican Party:

GINGRICH: Look, I think there is a gay and secular fascism in this country that wants to impose its will on the rest of us, is prepared to use violence, to use harassment. I think it is prepared to use the government if it can get control of it. I think that it is a very dangerous threat to anybody who believes in traditional religion. And I think if you believe in historic Christianity, you have to confront the fact. And, frank — for that matter, if you believe in the historic version of Islam or the historic version of Judaism, you have to confront the reality that these secular extremists are determined to impose on you acceptance of a series of values that are antithetical, they’re the opposite, of what you’re taught in Sunday school.

This is wrong on so many levels, especially coming from a twice-divorced adulterer. Someone needs to force Newt to watch this scene from The West Wing. UPDATE: It’s too good not to post again:

just wondering….is there a book or online site which summarizes some of these outrageous verses in the bible? i know the bible itself but who has the time. “am i right or am i right, right, right-right”. (virtual high-five to anyone who knows which bill murray film this is from)

I’d missed that also!Epic. Douche. Bag.

Yeah. Now we’re fascists. Violent fascists. Is it me, or is true that every time these shitbirds describe the strategies and tactics we are going to use to subvert The American Way of Life, they are always from their playbook…

I remember watching that episode when it aired, and I loved it then. As much as I wish people would take religion out of politics, it ain’t ever going to happen. I get so angry when people chose to push their moral mentality in to laws, but I chose to vote my opinion. I get so tired of the ranting and raving of the far out fringes of both parties. I know that I am an idealist, but it would be so nice if we agreed that we could disagree, and all of us keep our self respect. Hate only begets hate. God now I sound like a bible thumper, which i am far from. But I want solutions to are problems, not finger pointing and blaming

Violent fascists…oh, dear. I think Newt got confused. Instead of GLBT folks, think he must have meant the idiots who go after them/us — the Matthew Shepard’s of this world. Now there’s some violence for ya. You betcha.

Yeah, I caught this one maybe on Hardball. There was speculation that Gingrich was looking at 2012. Interesting how the learning ability is so thwarted in the Republican Party, that once again people like Gingrich are playing to the base. How did that work out this year, Newt?

    >>is there a book or online site which summarizes some of these outrageous verses in the bible?Yes, there is. I included a list in my book — the “Atheist’s Nightmare” chapter.

I wonder if his sister’s coming for Thanksgiving this year…should be an interesting meal.

Newt Gingrich is the antithesis of what I was taught in Sunday school.

  • El Mystico

Also some people keep learning after sunday school is over…

  • jasperjava

Ummm… those who believe in “historic” Islam and “historic” Judaism also go to Sunday school? That’s what Newt seemed to say.
