Jindal

Adding to Stranahan’s post from yesterday, the notion that Jindal is the ‘Republican Obama’ amplifies how truly ridiculous and desperate the Republicans are.

They’re making a huge mistake in assuming that just because Jindal is young and of unusual ethnic origins that he’s the equivalent of Barack Obama — in the same way they mistakenly calculated that Sarah Palin would attract female voters just because she’s a woman, even though she possessed none of the positive qualities of Senator Clinton.

It’s totally shallow — and vaguely racist in a way. In other words, a party which has so often dealt in identity politics and racial divisiveness to suddenly go, “Hey look over here! We have an ethnic, too!” seems weird and awful to me.

Well if they go that route, I suppose the “exotic”, he’s not “one of us” and “funny name” smears will have to stop. May I see Jindal’s birth certificate please?

I, for one, am happy to let the GOP go on fooling itself for as long as possible.

I agree that the GOPers who are grasping at Jindal as their “ethnic” answer to Obama are fooling themselves. On the other hand, let’s not underestimate Jindal’s political skills. Just because republican nimrods think that dark-skinned pols are interchangeable doesn’t mean he’s another Sarah Palin. The guy is a non-white who managed to get elected governor of David Duke’s state. That takes some political savy.

Bobby Jindal is insane. He has actually participated in exorcisms…He is nothing like Obama. Check it out: http://www.thedailybanter.com/tdb/2008/11/bobby-jindal-is-nuts.html…He's really fucking crazy.

He’s really fucking crazy.Well, duh, he’s Republican. He’s no crazier than the rest of the snake-handling, moonshine-swilling, stump-toothed collection.Sarah Palin underwent weird witch-proofing religious rituals, and that didn’t seem to faze the goggle-eyed base. They loved her even more.Unlike Sarah Palin, Jindal seems to have more than two brain cells to rub together, and he can put together a coherent set of sentences. The exorcism stuff is a feature, not a bug, to the Republican base. They WANT somebody who can ward off the devil. That’s an important political skill as far as they’re concerned. However, if 2012 is an Obama-Jindal matchup, we have nothing to worry about. I don’t think there are any Republicans out there to worry about.
