Obama And The Bloggers

BooMan making sense again:

If Obama listened to the Netroots’ advice all the time he wouldn’t be president-elect [...] he generally ignored the Netroots’ advice and, for the most part, he was wise to do so. He ran a far smarter and more disciplined campaign than I could have ever dreamed up.

The netroots were slow to support the Obama campaign (with a few exceptions), and once he clinched the nomination, the support included a lot of “Obama needs to [insert superlative advice here] or else he’s going to lose!” posts. Especially during the week after the RNC.

Remember that week, though? I call it the “Oh noes! We’re Gonna Lose!” week. Fortunately, our mantra here was this.

I remember when you posted that image, It was a slap in the face to me then, a reminder to remain confident in Obama’s judgement. It was a reminder of the panic before the Iowa caucuses when the Obama donors were crying that Obama wasn’t playing tough enough. It reminded me of the two weeks of Rev Wright crapolla, then came the brilliant speech in Philly. I remember that image now, during all of this predictable criticism of Obama’s transition. I am confident that come March or April 2009, I will remember that image once again and smile. After he takes office, and then if he fucks up, I will be there to criticize, but until then….chill the fuck out! He’s got this!

It’s going to be refreshing to have a President who is the smartest person in the room.

Yeah, I remember when you posted the “I got this” pic. It was exactly what the Cescans needed, and definitely one of this blogs finest moments. The same principle applies now during the transition, when so many folk seem to be getting their knickers in a twist about who Obama is appointing to the Cabinet and to Senior WH Staff. Regardless of my views about a few of these folks, I’m guessing that President Elect Obama and his transition team (a) know more about them than me, and (b) know what they’re doing.Relax… We’re nearly there…
